No suits/wraps. Belt is ok and I'll probably be wearing knee sleeves (at least to train, not sure about competition day). Boar, there will be blood!

From the videos and from feeling, it is fairy obvious that I fail the weight because of my back. My legs are easily capable of pushing up 150 and a fair bit more, but I think because my levers are so long, I lift my hips up too soon in the hole and end up trying to lift it with my back more or less horizontal. This is fine until it gets heavy, but then causes me to fail.

I could work on getting my back stronger, but I think the thing to concentrate on is staying more upright. I have tried to do this in the past by going wider, but I think the answer might be just the opposite. Put the bar high and go narrower. I'll see.

No videos today, but a pretty solid session. I did some chins and db bench, then I worked up to a comfy 140 squat before doing some more chins and hitting a pb with a chin at bw+25. I then tried benching for the first time in a long while and did a couple of easy reps at 80kg. This is miles away from what heavy should be, but it didn't hurt my shoulders which is the main thing.

Defintiely think the 150k fail is a tech issue,I've found really concentrating on sitting back and pushing my Knees out has helped me,I still suffer from a similar problem to you but not as pronounced.

Excellent use of the word f**k mon ami!

I'm sure you're right mate. I'm going to squat again this afternoon. I find that I really need to concentrate on pushing head/shoulders/chest up. Hopefully this should help with a max. And you can never say f**k too much when you miss a weightWink

I agree with Ed nico, obviously with a squat you want the shortest plain of movement, but as you go down into the squat position you are leaning forward. If you watch the vids again including the 145, the same thing happens. Look at the edge of the weight against the line of the rack upright, you'll see it gets closer and closer as you lean forward. By sitting into the squat you should eliminate this mate, thus allowing a more vertical plane of movement.

Cheers Malc. I've just been squatting today and watching the vids between sets. I can see myself leaning forward, but can't seem to correct itUnhappy

A fun session this afternoon. I squatted up to 146; but it was high and as Malc rightly says, I'm currently leaning miles forward. I'm not really sure how to correct this either.

I filmed the squats, but it looks exactly the same as the last lot so I won't put them up.

I then tried some oly stuff. Apologies for those of a sensitive nature-this is topless.

Here is a failed attempt at getting 72 kilos overhead.

A pb 82kilo clean

And some of the worst snatching you are ever likely to see. Here is 50 kilos

In defence of the snatching (hang snatching?), this is my first attempt and the warm up sets looked a lot more professional!

As always, I am in awe of my complete lack of explosive power. In my head I look like the third Clegg, but then I watch the video.....

Some more squats today. Got 146-I think it is deep enough.

And then failed 150.

I thought I had it. It doesn't seem to be a million miles away and both looked a little bit more upright than normal.

how the f**k did you fail that 150k ? you'd done all the hard work.Depth looks a little borderline (Clarke depth).I proscribe 5 triples at 130k and then add 2.5k each week from there ( disclaimer: I know f**k all)Happy

No idea how I failed it to be honest. I got through the tough bit and then just couldn't get it up. Story of my lifeWink

I can sink it an inch or so more without too much bother, which should take me deep enough. I paused the vids at the bottom and it didn't look miles high so I'll see if I can drop it a touch which should hopefully be in.

As for weight, currently I'm doing as a smart man said, heavy f**king singlesGrin
