the one i used at the british (the same one andy used for the 460 attempt) it didnt seem any longer , it was very grippy , may have been a texan powerbar or similar - not IPF legal

anyway, i dont think mark will be competing in an ipf comp any time soon

The bar bends a bit before the weight comes off the floor, which effectively means that you start the lift from higher up, and with some momentum.
