Boom, trophies are here, gym is cleared (by Nick and crew while I was at the swimming baths! Happy) and we're all set.

I'll be at HQ at 8.30am if anyone wants to weigh in early, otherwise from the gym at 9.30am.

Good day out. Will get a proper write up and video later.

1st - Stuart Yule
2nd - Jeremy
3rd - Ben
4th - me
5th - Dave
6th - Morgan

Iain the fatty never made weight, think that was his ploy to get out of it anyway.

Stuart and Jezza qualify for BSM and deservedly so!

Massive thanks to brian and nick for putting this on. When I woke up I weighed in at 85. something (in the garage) after a large chicken tikka nan kebab and a few pints the night before so breakfast was on!

When I arrived I weighed in at 88.3kg fully clothed and fed, no bother.

I drew the last so I was up last on the axle but I don't think it mattered much in that event.

Event 1 - Max Axle

Overhead is hit and miss for me so I knew I'de get 100 and anything over would be a bonus. Got 100kg no troubles but lost 105kg behind me a few times, should really have got it, never lost a bar behind me. Wouldnt have affected things though.

100kg
4th joint with dave

Event 2 - 220kg Deadlift for reps in 75s

PB is 230 about 5 weeks ago, have failed a double at 220kg not long before that. Knew id get a rep, maybe a double. Managed 3, think I used my time well and there definately wasnt 4 there.

3 Reps
4th

Event 3 - 135kg Farmer Hold

I have done decent(ish) in the past in holds but it can go either way. Got 27.56, 0.03s behind Ben.

3rd Place

At this point we had just about wrecked nicks gym. Sorry nick! So we had to take the competition to the SS HQ outside into the wind and sunshine. Last years champ Lee managed to take us a 30 minute detour but we got there in the end and the weather was decent enough.

Event 4 - 270kg Yoke, 180kg Duck walk x12m Medley

Knew I would be decent with the yoke, duckwalk I find it hard to move my feet with. Stood up with the yoke first, got steady and went. Didn't really make any mistakes here and done as well as I could of really.

3rd Place

Event 5 - Rising Bar Squat (160kg, 170kg, 180kg, 190kg, 200kg)

Wraps allowed, they really helped. Only started using them 2 weeks ago in training. I would have managed this raw, maybe not even 180 but with the wraps I managed to do them all, as did Ben, Stuart and Jeremy. I came joint 3rd with Ben on time.

Event 6 - Circus Dumbell 53kg FTOH Reps in 75s

Knew I was decent at this, had plenty of practice and knew it would be an advantage. Was feeling fresh enough, managed 9 on the day missing 1 as I couldnt hold it at lockout. Won this event.

9 Reps
1st

Overall - 4th Place.

Was a cracking day out. I treated it like a training session as I knew what I was capable of (and the others). Has only reinforced what I already know. I need to put on more muscle and turn my weaknesses into strengths. Time is on my side though so I have plenty of time!

Big thanks to brian and nick for running it. Reffing by bernie and lee was spot on all day.

Well done to all the loaders who busted their arse.

Stuart really impressed me today, knew he would be a monster statically and he proved hes not bad with the strongman kit either! (4 1st places out of 6)

Jeremy done well to qualify and only broke a couple of bits of kit so thats a plus.

Ben has come on loads since last year and deserved 3rd place.

Cracking day. I think I got the whole comp on video so I'll try to get each individuals video up asap.
