Ye same mate! Can't wait but really want to build over the winter so 8 months is perfect time in my opinion.

Rest over the weekend now and then on Monday my Strongman equipment comes l. I've managed to get some funding from a local sports charity for a log and a yoke which also doubles up as a squat stand. I also bought a thick loadable Dbell handle and some grippers as really want to work on grip. So going to do a big session on Monday getting use to the log and yoke and also to work out a 1rm on log so I can program for it!
With the yoke it means I can do a lot of my training from home now like OHP work and also speed squats and speed fronts.
Really motivated ATM

Log yoke and thick dbell handle arrive today and i've got liquid ass Unhappy

Need to buy some more plates as don't have as many 20's as i thought so thats my next purchase then some farmers handles.
Going to get my max log and dbell down and just do speed yoke which i will have to do until the weights come.

Anyone got any advice for events sessions? Should I just mix it up each week or follow a program for them?
I was thinking with log to do 5s then some strict press and then heavy cleans as when ive used a log before the cleans were where I struggled.

Going to start log again.
Started working with lee forbister and the last 12 week program ended up beeing 16 weeks due to chest infection and then some hip issues.

So we start comp prep on Monday 12 weeks out from Bolton strongest novice.

Got some more equip at home now so have
Farmers, yoke, Ralph the log, oly bar, axle, thick dbell handle and about 280kg worth of plates.

Made some good progress under lee in the short time.
Alot of tempo work which has helped massively even if grim to do.

Going to add yoga into my routine and spending alot more time doing mobility and alos more time making sure I get enough calories in and enough protein in as I struggle with it normally. I never seem to have a massive apatite but forcing it on myself now.

So lets see how this goes...........

Been worrying as had no wheels for axle and today managed to get some for free so buzzing.

Week 1 of 12 week prep
Day 1
So today was training at home
Axle FTOH and some farmers work.
Only ever cleaned an axle once so wasn't expecting anything massive just wanted to get technique right! Bloody wheels kept pushing the screw clips which was a bit off putting that every rep was different where wheels where lol!
Power clean and strict press 5x3-5
Set 1 and 2 67kg x5
Set 3 and 4 69kg x5
Set 5 77kg x3
All easy and tekkers felt there or there abouts and I think plenty more in the tank

Belt clean and push press was next and this will be f**king grim. Never done this before so worked light to make sure all was right and felt it so up the weight next week.

Farmers runs 3x pick ups 20m there 20m back 5 sets

Then farmers holds 90 seconds 3 sets to Finish!

Enjoyed it massively but next week up weights to really push myself as all was relatively easy today apart from a couple of reps where the tyres tried to eat me! Also hobbit hands and axles don't go well at all 😂😂

Postieior chain work

Snatch grip deadlifts with 4 seconds eccentric phase 10x5
Set 1. 140kg
Set 2. 140kg
Set 3. 150kg
Set 4. 150kg
Set 5. 155kg
Set 6. 160kg
Set 7. 165kg
Set 8. 170kg
Set 9. 180kg
Set 10. 140kg

Took first few sets carful as suffering with hips ATM but weight built up to a pb.
Hate snatch grip but seems to really carry over for me.

RDL 3x6 3 second eccentric
60sec rest between sets
All sets 140kg

Seated good mornings 3 second eccentric
3x8-10 reps
Set 1. 80kgx10
Set 2. 100kgx8
Set 3. 60kgx10

Rope pull through 3x12
And a few curls to finish.

Really enjoyed today thought I would struggle after a long shift and shot sleep last night but felt ok.
Upping calories now as worked out wasn't nearly having enough.
Going to start yoga on Wednesdays as of tomorrow to try and help my mobility and hope it stops my hips from beeing f**ked up.

So first yoga class tonight at the gym I've worked at for 7 years. Turned up a hour early and walked into wrong class lol
Got to say the hour flew by and I loved it. My flexibility is s**t tho!
Going to be a staple part of training for me know as my stretching is s**t although it has improved massively recently.

Few things I was surprised at tho
One; how much wind is realised in a yoga class. Every few minutes someone lets rip!
Two; how much you sweat!
Three; how many sexual innuendos the instructor comes out with

vertical pulldown 5x6 pause at chest
lat pulldown pronated 5x12-15

60% incline Reverse press barbell 5x6
60% incline dbell press 5x12

ez bar BOR 3x6

Dips with 20kg chains 3x6
cable crossover bent forward 3x15

Enjoyed today
Found it hard to unrack the reverse bench tho.

Not going to lie but this was brutal.
Got to the gym with no socks or knee sleeves or shorts to train in so bad to walk home to go back!

Jump squats 4x10
Set 1. 60kg

Set 4. 100kg
Never done them before but enjoyed them.

They hurt and I wanted to cry but you will be happy to know I didn't cry and did all sets.

Leg curl 3 second eccentric

Enjoy these never really done them as much as I do now and hamstring strength is improving fast under Lee

Step ups to bench with dbells
4x 8 each leg 20kg dbell
Grim and for a hobbit like me a bench is near my chin.

Seated good mornings
4x10-12
Set 1. 60kgx12
Set 2. 70kgx12
Set 3. 80kgx12
Set 4. 100kgx10

Toe press on hammer strength leg press
3x12

Seated calf raises 3x12

Then stretched for 10mins

Completely new way of training legs and massively out my comfort zone.
Suppose as a powerlifter squats where key but in a comp prep for a strongman comp with no squat event in you need other work!
Really enjoying the variation in the training and feel the best I've ever felt so going well.

Week 1 day 5

Final training day of this week and i have really enjoyed the week of training so rest and re feed now to feel fresh for axle on Monday.

Arms today
A1. Ez bar curl x6
A2. Hammer curl x12
A3. Straight bar cable curl x25
90 sec rest
B1. close grip bench x6
B2. dbell skull crunch x12
B3. overhead rope ext x25
90 sec rest 3x threw

pump is insane and then just finished with reverse curls 12 reps 7 deep breaths 8 reps 7 deep breaths 5 reps

I find arms boring to train and have lost some size off them recently due to lack of training so glad they are back in but that they only take 15 mins.

Axle and farmers
Wasn't feeling it today as weather was s**t and I was tired but got it done and was a great session

Axle powerclean into strict press
72x5 72x5 77x4 82x3 82x3 getting use to cleaning the axle now so can see this improving quite quickly.

Axle belt clean into push press 5x3
Belt cleans getting the hang of but still going lightish to get technique
Set 1. 82kg
Set 2. 92kg
Set 3. 92kg
Set 4. 92kg
Set 5. 77kg
All felt good and going to go heavy next week as feel really confident now with these! Only 2nd time ever doing these.

Farmers walk 3x pick up into 30m speed work.
5 sets at 57kg per hand (5kg per hand on top of last week)
Weather was grim and nearly slipped a few times lol

Long shift yesterday and it makes deadlift day a killer.

Snatch grip deadlifts 8x4 building up weight
set 1. 150kg 4 second eccentric
set 2. 160kg 4 second eccentric
set 3. 170kg 4 second eccentric
set 4. 180kg
set 5. 190kg
set 6. 180kg
set 7. 180kg
set 8. 140kg 4 second eccentric

RDL 3x6
set 1. 140kg 3 second eccentric
felt hip a bit so lowered weight
set 2. 100kg 3 second eccentric
set 3. 100kg 3 second eccentric

seated good mornings 3x10
All sets done 90kg 3 second eccentric

Rope pull threws
3x12

Yoga tonight but no weights.

Have a gym challenge on for members to try and beat us staff on a sparc which is similar to a watt bike in the fact it measures the amount of watts in legs.
I managed 1606 which is top by some way haha

Great stuff mate, I've only just realised you have a new log lol. The stuff on intsa has been very good though Tongue

The mobility stuff should do you good mate, you just end up moving better which is always a good thing.
