Good competition yesterday, which was ran OK considering the size of the novice field I think. Would have probably been better for all athletes if the novice field was limited to 10, but either way, thoroughly enjoyed my day

Was good too meet Will, Carl and JT, all very nice fellas, with JT being very strong AND fast!!

Events went as follows:-

245 Deadlift for reps in 90secs

4 good reps and failed a 5th just above the knee. Was vey pleased with this considering my PB is 245, and am confident that six can be nailed @ Englands in 3 weeks time with 240

110KG Log in 60 secs

2 reps and failed a couple (girlfriend missed 1st rep on vid!!). Was quite happy with this, although I didnt know it was 110 till we had finished. If i would have known, would have taken my time a bit more instead of blasting out 1st two. Still relatively happy though

95KG Farmers for 50m

Was very happy with this getting 35secs. I think I may have fared slightly better with heavier farmers over a shorter distance, but gotta be pleased. You can see on the video that slowed up bad at the end as was cramping, so was glad when crossed the finishing line Happy

340KG Tyre

No flips here, my technique was absolutely terrible. I was told my feet were far to close to the tyre and wasn't getting under it enough. Had no problem picking it up, did that about 8 times LOL but plenty of technical work needed on this!!

4 110KG Stones to Barrells

This was pretty straight forward to be honest. All four stones felt pretty light, and it was only cramping in the hammies at the end which slowed me down. Finished in 25seconds, although i probably would have prefered to do stones 110-140 as platforms were only very low.

Overall had a good day and was happy with the days lifting. Need some technical work for sure, but was content with the rest of the days lifting. Aim now is to work DL before englands in 3 weeks and some technical work on stone!!

Next years aim is to win u105 or be competitive in the opens

Videos will follow shortly Happy

you did really well yesterday mate. I think you talked yourself out of doing that tyre before you started! youre easily strong enough to do it.

Well done JC, awesome stuff. You can always come over to Mark Haydock's place and practice your tyre flipping (and pick up your parcel shelf at the same time!). See you soon mate.

will and jc great to meet you and thanks for the nice comments really touching stuff!

will i am sure if you work hard on the bottom of your deadlift you can pull big numbers,

jc you have loads of potential believe in yourself and you can be awesome

millsy yes i lifted with bwla until the powerlifters decided not to breakaway (thats another story) my best lifts equipped in competition were 290 240 280 and unequipped 250.5 180 280

my competition breakdown 245kg deadlift

double edged sword going first held a little back 13 reps

log clean and press 110kg

5 reps had to throw in the kitchen sink to get number 5!

farmers 95kg 50m

would of prefered heavier i don,t think i'm that quick 1 drop at about 40m finished in 31seconds

tyre 340 kg

i was scared of tyre so pleased to get 9 flips (last one too late to count) from the video i have lots of work to do on technique

stones 4x 110kg

barrels only 33" high so this was a sprint again would of prefered higher and heavier got 4 in 15.5 seconds

i am pleased with the outcome but need lots more event training looking forward to seeing you guys in bexhill

When Will was on the log, did I hear the MC (Les Wiltshire, I think) say; "110kg, that's NOT a lot of weight"?

I reckon he's wrong:

1. It's over bodyweight
2. Isn't it the job of the MC to say, "110kg, that's like lifting a 17 stone man above your head, WOW"?
3. You do it then, mate.

Thanks for the positive comments guys

On reflection, it was a shame there were not a few more U105 competitors, but still a very good day

Be good to test myseld against Will and JT in just a few weeks time, with completely different events Happy

Ben, I may take you up on that tyre offer some time soon, needs a bnit of practice LOL

Millsy - the limping was all down to my hammies. I was just happy not be rolling around the floor like a turtle on its back, with cramp!! Roll-Eyes
