All i do is pick them up and put them in the bin - lifes too short to get stressed out over stuff like that.

I replied that living for 70+ years was more than enough for me and that I have no desire for an afterlife, they soon shut up.

| just smoked Ed and Neil - EAT MY GOAL Member 120, 1583 posts | Post Edited: 16.05.2010 @ 19:47 PM by nicoI don't get annoyed by Jehovah's witnesses. If it were a daily occurrence this might be different, I suppose, but one every few months or more doesn't bother me. My wife being an anxious sort lives in fear of them. Not for any religious reasons, simply because they popped round about 15 years ago when she was a student and left a book and some leaflets. when they didn't come back after a month or few, she threw the stuff out. She is worried that they are coming back for the book and that she will be in some sort of trouble. Mind you, I do keep telling her they are coming for the book every time we see any out and about The one that really annoys me is cold-callers. I can imagine what a mind-numbingly awful job it must be to sit in a call centre with someone looking over your shoulder putting the pressure on, but I do struggle to stay polite sometimes. | ||

They tend to come round mine about two or three times a year, we always have a chat, sometimes about religion, sometimes not. Then they go. No need for unpleasantness or insults in my experience. Life's too short for rowing with strangers over nonsense. Now there's a refreshing attitude. I like the JWs. I'd rather have them show up on the doorstep than my relatives.

I dont worry that JW's will kill me or my loved one in an act of terrorism . I do find the fact that they want to come onto my property and try and convert me to a ridiculous faith system down right rude but it only takes me about 2 seconds to say 'no thankyou' and shut the door in their face.

I believe in science rather than 'fantasy make-believe' and quite strongly at that, however I don't enforce my views on other people... well apart from my kids.

This year, I'm teaching A Level Religious Studies/Philosophy (which implies nothing about my own beliefs). So far, the typical atheist student seems equally as brainwashed - by the prevailing secular zeitgeist - as the religious ones. I understand what you mean about selfishness, but from their point of view, they're being the opposite. Spreading the word and all that.
