nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | Power meter time? Do you know of anybody who has bought a power meter or anything from abroad? (Germany for powermeters24). I'm sure it's all OK if it works (the only negative comments I found were it could be a bit slow) but wonder how easy it is to get sorted if there's a problem. I wonder if approx £60 more at Wiggle is worth the peace of mind.

Are horror films healthy...? Member 5449, 2203 posts | That's a trade off a frequently opt into Steve... And as well as that Wiggle sponsor the British Triathlon Team so as well as customer service a fraction of your money goes to giving back to sports within our borders

Have I missed something?

Having access to a trainer with a power meter is decent enough for me until early next year at least. I'll reconsider at the end of February when I start to think about more serious road efforts but I think it would be a waste of money at the moment. I also don't know anyone who has used the company but I would have little objection to using them myself.

I get 12% off at Wiggle bringing the price down to £659, and guessing at the actual rate I'd get on my card approx £600. Unfortunately the roof at the back of the house has leaked and one of the bedroom ceilings fallen in (fortunately nobody was in that room at the time) so I've put spending on hold until I know just how expensive the damage is

has a tiny penis Member 2897, 5018 posts SQ 220, BP 140, DL 270630.0 kgs @ 82.2kgs UnEq | I shall be obtaining a power meter in the coming weeks very excited over the past 6 weeks ive increased my 5 second, 10 second, 1 minute and 5 minute power. My 10 second power increased by 120 watts. i cant remember numbers but it was around 1000 watts which isnt great but if i can keep adding 120 watts per 6 weeks for a while (due to this being a relatively new sport, i think i can) then it should shape up well. Plus if i can actually train with numbers instead of perceived exertion then that should help too. Need a better turbo for xmas. Fingers crossed lol.

has a tiny penis Member 2897, 5018 posts SQ 220, BP 140, DL 270630.0 kgs @ 82.2kgs UnEq | Ive not fully decided yet, it depends which ones the local shop can get (as i get discount there). It'll be crank or pedal based so that i can use it on the track and road bike.

Eat.Cycle.Sleep.Win Member 2, 12511 posts SQ 190, BP 150, DL 280620.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq Administrator | It's a tough one. Naturally I thought pedla based system. But that does tie you to the Garmin pedals and a lot of sprinters use old fashioned pedals because of the forces they put through them when driving from a stationary start. The issue with a crank system is that if it is a full crank system that is difficult to keep changing and your road and track bikes will have different cranks anyway (which makes it very difficult, if not impossible to use stages too....) The easiest option in terms of swapping between bikes would be a powertap, but then you are tied to one set of wheels. Although you don't need the power meter when you actually race so could swap for a track specific wheel easily.

Eat.Cycle.Sleep.Win Member 2, 12511 posts SQ 190, BP 150, DL 280620.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq Administrator | I reckon I'd go for pedals. You might not race with them, but you don't need a PM to actually race with, and you can use them to get decent training data. Monday 24th November AM - 22km PM - 22km Tuesday 25th November AM - 22km PM - 25km PM - FTP test PM - 15km The intention was to get to the club at a decent time after work, play around with the WB until I had my set up nailed down, get the garmin hooked up so I could collect the data and then do a full on FTP test. The reality was I got out of work really late, couldn't get the garmin to connect, and then didn't have time to set the bike up properly. The test that I want to use involves a 5 minute full on burst, followed by a rest, followed by a 20 minute TT. The 5 minute interval is to take a bit of life out of your legs. Well the 25km ride with a few short bumps definitely does that, so I dropped that interval. Didn't have time to do a full warm up either. Ended up clocking 320 watts for the 20 minutes, which I'm moderately happy with. In fact I'm pretty pleased with, all things considered. If I follow the Coggan formula this puts me at a FTP of 304 watts and 3.7w/kg. I didn't think I'd get much above 3 considering I've done next to no 'training' and I wasn't set up right. The Coggan performance table puts me in the bottom third of cat 3 with this. This gives me LOTS of confidence. First aim is to get this above 4 by Spring. I tentatively thiunk that is more than possible, but who knows. One thing that did strike me during this was that I'm out of practice at enjoying the pain. I think it'll take me a fair few proper workouts to get used to it again. So much of my training over the last 18 months has been pure endurance based.
