Is Darren more worthy than Ben K for a spot? Past acheivements vs current form... tough one... and even more reason for a qualifier!

Edit: Lloyd also could make a strong case.

Sadler isn't close to being as deserving as Ben K. Joke if true.

To be fair the guy has put a f**k load of work in organising Europe's Strongest Man and BSM and has got good previous form (obviously no idea what he's like now). As has been mentioned he's put a lot of his own money into these and so maybe its his reward? Not saying its wholly fair but unfortunately strongman isn't fair at the moment, its dictated by TV companies and as its such a small sport it needs to jump to their every whim, and by that Colin obviously has to make decisions as to what will be best for TV. History shows Darren has a good tv persona and is liked, granted its s**t others aren't getting the chance but that's the way it seems to me at the moment.

On the otherhand, I'd be exceedingly surprised if Lloyd and Ben didn't get an invite to another Giant's live which (again I'm assuming) would be qualifier for next years WSM.

He's done fantastic work organising it but that doesn't mean you get automatic entry to such a big comp especially with lloyd, Ben k and Chris gearing not even mentiondd

Chris didn't do anything last year so if we are going off current form why would you list him?

True enough mate which is why a qualifier is needed!

Thats a bit like saying Craig Manc put a s**t load of work into UKSC ESM last year so should have got a spot at UKs!

say challenge TV decided they wanted it all filming in april and Glenn had to run a qualifier to get him the lads in his competition, which needed certain criteria for tv. Think it would be much different?
I think Darren And Bryce have done alot for the sport in past 2 years. Even with the 105 worlds competition that was run it got decent tv exposure.
Theres just no time. Thats the way i see it anyway. Its totally kknocked everything on its head being moved forward.

I could run a qualifier Feb 16th - no problem! Wink

No thats true. But like Darren he's someone who competed at worlds a few years ago and not competed since but is training again.
Luke
Its a disgrace that Saddler is there over the likes of Kelsey, Renals and Shaw.

This! Chris had a tough year last year but he proved he was more than capable the year before that.

Tbh hixxy hit the nail on the head, it's all been f**ked up by the date changes and it's made Darren and Colin's job a nightmare. They are running at least 3 giants lives but are trying to squeeze more in. They wouldn't choose to have it this way either.

With regards the Brits they have to invite internationals so they can get it on channel 5 with the wsm shows

In your view then how is new blood meant to get a try? Or even push the regulars to work harder to keep their spot? From 2 of your posts you go for guys that haven't proved themselves in a year or far more over guys that graft year in year out!

I must have come across wrong

What i meant was Sadler getting a place ahead of the guys i mentioned seems unjustified.

But i forgot to mention that i also feel 3 internationals at britains strongest man is a joke and a competition that is in theory a national title without qualifiers in ridiculous.

I think a proper qualification for worlds going regional--- nationals--- britains--- worlds would be the best thing we could have.

The model Glenn uses for qualification to UKs can't be faulted. No one gets favours, only the previous winner gets automatic qualification. It's just a shame that the money isn't there to attract the likes of Terry, Loz, Felix etc.
