Just a gentle reminder to people that this contest is only a few weeks away and entries have been trickling in slowly. If you intend to lift please get in touch soon. As usual new members and guest lifters from other regions are welcome. Spectating is free and there's good food and supplements available at the venue.

At the momement there's only annual membership, however this will mean you can choose from a large selection of events throughout the year.

it is a shame that they do not do it but then there would be people only doing 1 comp a year costing them £10 and the gbpf would lose loads of cash

This is true, they have to do what is cost-effective. I know most wouldnt join more than 1 Fed though due to the annual cost but might take part in one-offs like this one...

Members have to be available for drug testing throughout the year (and in the past - and hopefully future when UK Sport gets around to recognising GBPF rather than BWLA as the governing PL body) that was routinely done. Day memberships for tested feds don't really make sense.

Haway lads just get your hand in your pockets and do the comp.

there are six of us coming over from the north east to compete.

really like the push pull format, plus the bench can be used as a british qualifier.

Is this "unequipped bench" and deadlift or "unequipped" bench and deadlift? E.g. can I do equipped deadlift only? and is this event open for guest lifters from SW?

I think GBPF should look into this TBH....be a great way for new guys to "dip their toe" into the world of PL......without having to shell out £30....mor ppl would get into PL this way IMO

They dont no.....but GBPF, as it is NOW, with little if any testing at all......'day passes' are a very feasible idea to get new lifters into PL AND generate more funds....win-win IMO

I agree, I would have done this one as I like the idea of a push/pull comp, if for no other reason than my Squat is shoite !! Happy

We welcome guest lifters from other regions yes, both disciplines are unequipped.

Whilst I sympathise with new lifters having to shell out for GBPF membership plus support gear/leotard etc there's something to be said for committing oneself to joining the organisation early in the year and taking advantage of many of the events held throughout the year. In the NW there's 4 divsional events, a team contest and a National bench press event.

I think annual memberships are necessary. I just find it weird that I am a junior in the eyes of the GBPF and the IPF, yet Junior membership only applies to Under 18's. Suddenly I'm a senior when it comes to paying a £40 membership fee, instead of £20 as a "Junior"
