Bench Press, u/e

bar 2x10
40k x 10
50k x 10
70k x 5
70k x 5
70k x 5
70k x 5
70k x 5
70k x 3
70k x 3
70k x 3

Probs max is around 100k atm, not too bad considering I haven't done them for a year. Wrests are REALLY killing. Which is nice.

Assist
Inclines 5x5
Military 5x10 ascending
Pulldowns 2x10

Nice little session, quite enjoyed the benches. However, I need to find something new because I'm not really getting excited about powerlifting anymore... Strongman could be a new challenge but i'm not gunna kid myself until my strength is up to something reasonably strong. I want to be strong, but also lean, buff, fast and fuctional.. ie. an 'athlete'...

Ideas on a postcard..

watched some mountain bikers the other week, f**k me, brave fellas !!

im in a similar situation really, i enjoy the more diverse strength training but mabie not full on strongman, you seem to be getting plenty of veriety , surely getting stuck into wrestling / MMA is a fine path to choose

Build the strength with the gym lifts. Demonstrate it in the events.

So with a long term plan in mind i would just focus on squat, dead, front squat, bench, overhead till at least years end when you have a solid base to start nailing events with.

Appreciate the comments fellas,

Being a strong but unfit bas***d doesn't appeal to me anymore, I wanna look like a sprinter! Like Maurice Greene. So I guess sprinting may be a good place to start!

Loving heavy lifting, but hate what it takes to be competitive at PL...(ie. heavy bodyweight, usually pooor health overall.

Being unfit sucks, but just because someone powerlifts doesn't mean they have to be unfit.

I know you've got your goals and have got years of training behind you, but I think the only way to get decent at any one thing is to stick to it for years. I sense a little bit of chopping & changing from you, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Inconsistency mate! When I went at powerlifting consistently, I got 200+/120/235 raw at 90kg, age 20/21. Not bad.

However, keeping the mind fresh is also important for me.

As long as I'm benching/squatting/deadlift weekly then I'm happy, if not kick me in the arse.

Just want to expand muy horizobns for a bit, in 10 years, 1-2 years of focusing on 'other' things than PL will be beneficial. Look at Alexeyev, he didn't break his first record until he was 28.

Powerlifting for powerlifting's sake just isn't fun for me right now. I wanna compete unequipped next year for sure, but not focus all my attentions on it.

Mentally i think this is the right approach for me atm, but please kick me up the arse if my training becomes faggoty.

Fair enough. Training's supposed to be fun, so do whatever it takes to keep it that way!

Unless you can tempt me until a head-to-head raw powerlifting face off Titch mate?
