but the 2 best pressers at the expo pressed the log anyway so if your a good presser it dont really matter.. i find skinny logs really f**k me up on the clean

Exactly. I kind of like skinny logs, well not like but detest less than big logs.

I'm actively trying to steer the trend towards BTN jerks out of racks rather than log.

ah right. only time ive used one of toms logs was the incline log at the devon vs pompy comp. maybe I need to have a 1RM test on one of jt's logs! Grin

Rob - I dont really see what point your making in your post? ALL the Northern boys invited did the comp.

ALL the Northern boys who have qualified for the last 2 national comps have travelled 300+ miles. Am I missing something mate? Is it a dig at the Southern lads?

As for the log? Should the top 105s press 117....yes, but s**t happens and people have weak events. I could have got more than 1, but didnt have to, so didn't...

All 105s shoudl load a 150 stone to 55" but I wouldn't. Heavies also have thier weaknesses!

Personally I think all logs are pretty much the same unless they're stupidly thin or thick

The point rob was making is that we all moan about being injured or sick. And whos in and whos out of the comp. when we should just shut up and get on with it!! we do the comp or we dont do it !! simples. there is no north and south, we are english and we all have one thing in common!! strongman!!!

The comp setting was the best I had seen for a 105 comp, considering the amount of people at the Expo your probably not going to get a better opportunity to put 105 strongman on the map. This comp should have had at least 15 competing, it was a real shame people pulled out. Unfortunately people pulling out of strongman at the last minute seems to be fairly common.

The i.f.s.a log that we have is the same as rob framptons and terry hollands and im sure its one of toms. we have 2 jts logs at the ironworxs and they are completly different. the ifsa log is much harder to press than j.ts log. just ask rob or terry

I personally found Terry's IFSA log easier to press than the jt log I've got!!

I disagree though. Two of the Northern lads comepting were 70% fit....MAX.

I will compete injured, I dont give a f**k TBH. Train injured...compete injured...just part of strongman for me

I personally have never pulled out of a comp, and wouldnt unless there was a problem with my kids or I had a seriously f**ked up injury!

just to clarify jt logs are made to similar spec to ifsa logs

the main differance is i don't put loading pins 5 miles long on mine

my pb's were all done with a derbyshire steve log

i have done 2 comps with log in both vastly different logs and i won bothGrin

Thats why i dont like to compete unless im good to go as i would be pissed of with a poor performance.. i did the 2008 seven valley novice with a f**ked knee and back and i was leading untill the last event when the injurys got so f**king painfull i crumbled and harry beat me.. i was pissed off for months and vowed never to compete unless i was at least 90% fit... we as strongmen have to take injurys very seriously as we can easily make them worse and then that means time off work and loss of money!! then we cant pay the bills.. i have 3 kids and i have to be very carefull not to f**k myself up as i need to put food on the table.. sometimes it is very tempting to compete but the kids come first as you no j.c
