Obviously, the best pressers would still have come out on top, but the rest of the standings could have been different. If five guys didn't complete a single rep, then either the promoter misjudged the standard, or the competitors misjudged the standard. Either way, it's not good from a spectator's perpsective to see guys fail and the notion that it wasn't the weight it was the log smacks of workmen blaming their tools and all.

There are no excuses, but explanations on why guys didnt nail reps.

if milsy does 3x115 week before and other guys similar reps but then end up with 0 on the comp day its only natural you would offer an explanation of why it happened.

The problem was of course the weight, because on that log the weight is harder than on a log you normally would see in a comp.

Powerlifting perspective you could say that if you have a suit which is 10 sizes too big and you squat less with it, are you allowed to say something about the suit without others saying that you are just blaming the tools?

But in the end i think we agree, the weight was too heavy for the day. Where we seem to disagree is that there can be any differences between any implements which are put overhead, or that people would be allowed to mention it Wink

and to add, this made a huge difference in placings because 5 guys ended up with 0 points.

I would have been there in a flash. I would have been fighting to not come last, but would have loved the opportunity.

Getting to compete against all of the original Dungeon crew plus a lot of people I respect would have been a blast. But then I guess me, Jamie and Will arent concentrating on Englands.

i dont understand why everyone seems to think that all logs are j.t logs???? i have competed in a lot of comps and have used all sorts of logs?? i.f.s.a logs, jt, logs, toms logs, david horne logs, skinny logs, natural log, one log was even made from a gas canister!! it was huge... jt logs are new to the strongman seen...but if your a good presser you will press it.. now as for the best 105s not turning up! i did try to make it but i was ill and i had injurys,, yeah i could have competed but i was not going to kill myself to get there as it is not an important comp... There was no challenge for me at the expo. I have personel goals that i want to hit every year, this year it was to beat the guys that beat me last year and that was paul cater and paul woods.. now i no i beat paul cater at the southerns but that dont mean i will beat him again, paul is a quality strongman and i got lucky at the southerns as the events suited me more than they did him. Now my main focus is to keep up with cater and woods.. and beat them if i can..And my number 1 goal is worlds 105s!!!! now as a 105 strongman that should be everyones goal.. if your body can handle doing a s**t load of comps each year then good for you, but mine cant.. last year i burnt out after the uks and i could not find any good form. this year i am avoiding overtraining and peaking when it counts. i want woody and thats my main aim.. i dont want bodypower expo, i want uks strongest man and a chance to get to worlds!!

si - jt, tom and david horne logs are all made to (roughly) the ifsa spec. so when people talk about 'jt logs' I think they just mean ifsa spec?

The i.f.s.a log that we have is the same as rob framptons and terry hollands and im sure its one of toms. we have 2 jts logs at the ironworxs and they are completly different. the ifsa log is much harder to press than j.ts log. just ask rob or terry

Same reason everyone thinks vacuum cleaners are Hoovers, or public address systems Tannoys?

aye im sure they are quite different to press. I think the basics are all based on the ifsa spec though? like length, width and handle spacing?

the ifsa log is much longer mate.. 145kg log press on jts log no problem, ifsa log 135kg if im lucky.. toby has the same problem. the logs we had at britains were 120kg empty. i only got 2 reps.. the thing felt horrible... but the 2 best pressers at the expo pressed the log anyway so if your a good presser it dont really matter.. i find skinny logs really f**k me up on the clean
