Solid lift but not unattainable me thinks provided the training remains regular and I remain injury free..My focus will remain 3 lift but I think I'll try and qualify for this next year. What sort of lift do you reckon I need to medal in the 90 class?

some nice relaxing jazz. Member 77, 12599 posts SQ 265, BP 165, DL 280710.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | What sort of lift do you reckon I need to medal in the 90 class? Depends on that years standard. 145-150 probably would, 160 def would. Best lifter in current years, and british record holder, has no moved up to the 100's, (Green?) was doing 180-190. You bench seem to be going really well Sam, and looks like your strong lift so you'd do well nxt year.

some nice relaxing jazz. Member 77, 12599 posts SQ 265, BP 165, DL 280710.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | Good stuff. The 90 class whilst not being 'wild' was solid throughout. Thought Andy Bonner may have done a bit better but he's spent some time in the 82's.

some nice relaxing jazz. Member 77, 12599 posts SQ 265, BP 165, DL 280710.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | When I competed (06) there were only 4 in my class and although the winner got 180 odd, 2nd place was 140ish, 3rd 135 (Paul Rees) and me on 135 loosing out on bw. I actually pressed 140 but racked it before the command to do so

Member 261, 34 posts | If any one knows Andy Bonner please ask him to stay at 90k - I don't want competition in the 82's

Old Age Presser Member 75, 8158 posts SQ 0, BP 200, DL 200400.0 kgs @ 105kgs Eq | Lol! I didn't get Andy Bonner's strategy. He went 130/140/150 and all were easy. He could have had a go for the open title but didn't. Don't know why he didn't go 140/150/160. He did 160 in MK two years ago. I just don't get easy third lifts! Zia Mercer did the same in the 67s - 115/120/125, all easy but he only won because Cliff missed a 127.5 that he should have got, and I reckon Zia had a good 132.5 in him. I think a lot of guys waste their first lift, personally. Ok for a newbie, but someone really experienced? Interested to hear other views on this. 9 out of 9 seems to be a goal with some people, but we can all do that if we lift conservatively enough. Surely two good lifts finishing on 140 is better than three good lifts finishing on 135?!

Surely two good lifts finishing on 140 is better than three good lifts finishing on 135?! Trouble is, it's not that easy. Quite apart from anything else, many people might make 110 120 130 when they would have missed 110 130. And suppose you'd finished on a 155 third. People would be saying that was too easy (you included), and you should have opened 150 and gone to 162 or something. And you'd've ended up with less. Just because it looked easy doesn't mean there's more.
