I was originally down for the open class, but was allowed to compete in BSM u105. I finished 9th out of 11. Best placing was 4th in the farmer's. I had Paul Cater one side of me and Simon Cowdrey the other side - and was very surprised to find myself just ahead of them as we headed past 25 metres! We then all started doing a few steps at a time. I pushed myself to my limit to just stay ahead of them when the whistle blew - and felt ill afterwards!! The stone platforms were frustratingly high. I found the 120 stone EASY to lift, but couldn't quite get enough height. I was happy to get 1 rep on the dead lift (280Kg). It was a little lower than 15 inches.

Thanks for the the congrats messages lads

was a tough heavy comp, probably too heavy in hinsight, given that a number of us no repped on quite a few events

Woods was out on his won, and Owen too was outstanding. Cater on the log was great, a piss easy 5 strict presses in 40secs ish and Wayne C really stood out on the farmers for me

Today underlined for me how great 105 is, great camaraderie and encouragement of each other, everyone one of them great guys. Spent a fair bit of time with Snedz, guy is a legend!!

The only criticism of the comp was the surface. My farmers lane was like running up and down 4 little hills, dont think it effected farmers, but national comps should be better than that IMO

Report:

LOG 120KG

3 reps. Cleaned it 5 times, but failed the 2 other reps. The log was 120 empty, and fely hugely different to having the weight at either end, very heavy!! Joint 2nd with Woods; Cater got an easy 5.

Farmers 130KG x 50m

Farmers were big, very long cylinders. We were not required to turn, just put down, turn round and pick up. Strangely I felt I would have done better if could have turned and kept in hands. Realsied how much pain my hands were in after put down after 25m lol. Went a further 10, grip went, and couldn't pick up from there. 6th place

Deadlift 280KG

2 reps. Actually failed the 2nd rep as stumbeld, so should have nailed 3 really!! Hate pulling from 16" - needs lots of training! Woods won this with 7! I got joint 6th with Simon. Irish guys both pulled 4 reps each Eek

Tyre 480KG

5 of the guys who went before me failed pick up. I struggled with a wide hand placement, but once I went sumo stylie, it came up OK. Once at the knee felt f**king heavy though. Made Cleggys with 2x20 discs in feel like a peanut. Need lots of heavy tyre work. Woods nailed 10, most after that was 5. Joint 6th ot joint last lol (they were the same)

Stones to 60" 120, 140, 160, 180

Again a few before me failed the 1st stone. No-one had done more than one, including Snedz, so knew if I nailed first one I'd be fine. Pressed it on OK, and could not pick up the 140 - was smooth as f**k. Snedz had same problem. Was 7th on the stones I think

Finished 5th overall, think I pipped Snedz by a point. Woods ran away with it somewaht, won 4 of the 5 events. Exceptional athlete and decent chap

Plan for winter needs to involve as heavy tyre as possible and stones. Excited for next season, as Paul and Terry have grand plans for UK u105 next year. Had a good chat to Terry, very nice fella. Dis the stones pheniomenally fast as well, 180 peanut to 60" Eek

Thanks to all the guys who texted me encouragemnet before and during and nice texts at finish, much apprecaited. BSM needs to be run on its own next year, my day started at 0530 and finished at 2300 - just far too long a day!!

Oh big congrats to Laurence too for putting comp on

I think it was more like 14". Partials are so difficult to get any leg drive into.
