Member 926, 100 posts | You have to wonder about the events and selsction for the Arnolds its a great comp but maybe they should push it to 12-14 athletes and have a qualifier. Look at all the hassel Terry Hollands went through to get an invite it must be hard for athletes who miss out also as there are a few that could have went this year. There should be at least 2-3 brits every year and im Irish so thats a real statment to make. I would love to see an extra event so the athletes do 2 each day as its definatley the heaviest comp but its very different to WSM I think Mark and Terry did well and hopefully this will be a good start to there years. PS the sport is what it is the guys now a days are far healthier than say maybe 10 years ago and im sure they all get well looked after by doctors ect

9x WSM finalist! Member 662, 3372 posts | Was great to finally be a part of the contest just a shame I had to turn up with 2 very serious injuries. Was probably not the smartest move going but it was a risk I was prepared to take just to be there. I knew if I pulled out again I possibly would never have got a chance again. I have done no extra damage to myself but I was very aware it was possible which didn't help with getting my head ready for this. No excuses though, I just wasn't strong enough on the day to do myself justice. Well done to Mark, I knew he would do well on dl, frame and stones and although his overhead is not amazing at that level you can still place well even with 2 bad events there as everything is so heavy and guys will fail stuff. As far as qualifying goes there was a qualifier which me and Mark both got our invites off the back of.

I have been told 6 weeks off and I should be okay but if I tear my bicep more (the muscle is torn as well as the tendon) I could be out for 6 months. s**t happens with injuries! I did 5 years with none so 2 serious and 1 pretty serious in that time ain't too bad

I will be fit for wsm I gaurantee that! That is what really counts. The Arnold will always be tough for me to win as my overhead is much better than it was (well pre injury) but not good enough to match the really good pressers. WSM events suit me much better as most of my best events are the moving events
