The pleasure was mine old chap. You do make quite a difference, and for the better I hasten to add.

Thanks Pete, that is a very nice thing to say. I worry when i've been absent for a while that I will get a reaction similar to the one Turner gets on his return!!

Then stop right now. That is probably the most unfounded worry I have ever encountered. More unfounded than me waking up one morning 30 IQ points brighter, slim, handsome and a winning lottery ticket in my pocket.

Death by deadlift @ 100 kgs
12

Not a "proper" 12. After the 11 I started another set but at 9 I was bolloxed, my legs, which had ached since Monday, were feeling like jelly and I was feeling like falling over, so I stopped at 9 and sat. Rick informed me that as the minute was not yet up I had the remainder of it to do some more and I only needed three. Sitting, albeit for only 20 seconds or so, has stopped the jellification process in the legs so I restarted. I managed the three I needed. I slumped back into the sitting position and proceeded to huff and puff like a good 'un. Much to my surprise the huffin' and puffin' stopped relatively quickly. Again I am very happy.

I cannot disagree but I can once again express my surprise, Plus my general feeling of well-being is a plus and a hell of a coincidence if the two are not related. In fact the only drawback is that Littler was right. I have no objection to this in itself, but I may very well have died before he stops going on about it. Still it's a small price to pay. And I am happy to pay it.

You'll probably be dead before I even start going on about this one. There's still too much mileage in me being reasonably good looking and it's better to play to the positives. Glad it's going well, you're enjoying it and feeling benefits already. A thousand mile journey must start with a single step.

Especially as there appear to be no negatives

Happy

Can't really say I enjoy it, but it certainly worth doing. There are certainly enjoyable elements to it, but actually doing it is the least of them

If it helps, I still have times when I dread getting to certain stages, but I do enjoy the training on the whole. I also tend to have shorter workouts too, but do something most days. Sets me up and helps me sleep. It's always hard looking for the next improvement, but after a while you can look back and see exactly how far you've come.

I think that sums it up for everyone. If we didn't we wouldn't do it, but it isn't all beer and skittles. There are times when the road is long and it becomes more of a chore. These always pass however, and the fun returns. I have been at this caper in one form or another for thirty five years now, and most of it has been a blast. Given my time again, I would start sooner and find Adlington quicker. I was a ship without a rudder for far too long, but it did me no harm. And I was still having fun.

Bank holiday.

Went to MacDonalds for some nosebag and on the way back passing poundstretchers I remembered that I wanted to purchase some WD40. I entered and enquired as to where I would find said product. "DIY aisle" said a helpful chap and pointed generally in the direction of it. "Same aisle as wallpaper" he added. I thanked him and headed off.

I found the aisle easily enough and it looked like an aisle where WD40 would be if ever there was one. Could I see it ? Could I hell. I tried the next aisle which although not as suitable as the first would have not surprised anyone by having some.

It didn't.

I went back to the first aisle and felt like I was getting warm as the children say, but still I could not see it. So intent was I on scanning the shelves for a tin of this elusive lubricator I bumped into a large, stand-alone display of - yes - you guessed, WD40. Shedloads of it and nothing else. Talk about not seeing the wood for the trees.

Doh !
