So just to report on how the snatch grips have left me feeling today:

In summary, pretty good. My hamstrings are more sore than they would have been if I'd done my usual sumos instead. My lower back feels fine and rather surprisingly, I have muscle soreness in my traps and rhomboids (but not lats).

I'm liking my snatch grip deads of late - They really teach you to lock your lats in and keep that thoracic extension

Yes mate, I can see how that would be the case.

I've had a little play with them in the past (well once cos soemone else was doing it) and wasn't sure what benefit it would have, just felt a lot more awkward than normal pulls! Also try using hook grip
dr_hazbun
They certainly are awkward mate. Onto something far less awkward today:

Bench
all paused
60
85
100x5
Tng
115x3x2
117x3x2
120x3x2

Lats and triceps

Why not pause the heavier ones? Nice benching anyhioo

I do sometimes pause the last rep of each set but never mention it. Pausing all the time with all the benching I do (virtually every time I go to the gym) would beat me up too much I reckon.

I have actually never used straps. Over/under grip has always done the job.

I am confident I could grip anything I needed to even for rack pulls with over/under, BUT... dat fear of bicep tear.

I used to get twinges in my bicep after deadlifting, combined with sugdenbarbell home of the overrepresented distal bicep tendon ruptures it scared me off mixed grip for life Unhappy

Do you arch your back on the bench? Or just go flat whilst your not looking at competing?

Always arch mate. Puts my shoulders in an optimal position to press. Benching flat feels very strange.

If I benched flat I reckon my.shoulders would be hurting after a couple sessioms

Nice benching doc. No pain in the lower back sound s good after deads.

I've been ill. Some sort of winter vomiting virus that's completely f**ked me up. I've lost 4 kgs in BW. Mostly water weight I know, but I'm still f**ked off about it. Was weak as a kitten today.

Squat
60x5x3sets
80x5
100x5
110x5
115x5
120x5

Bench
60x10
80x10x3sets

SLDL
80x8
100x8
120x8x2sets

Barbell shoulder press
40x10x3sets

Lat pulldown
60x10x3sets

Pec fly machine
40x10x3sets

Tricep cable
40x15x3sets

Barbell curl
30x10x3sets

Very weak. A bit depressing actually. 120 squat felt like 160.

I took some creatine after the workout then drank 3 pints of lager.

Love me some snatch grip deadlifts,
Have done an ugly 180 in strongman days. Have more recently done 160 nicely. Great exercise, wrecks my legs much more than a heavy squat, although that might be because I do them less often.
