Post Edited: 01.03.2010 @ 18:28 PM by stuarthamilton
The website is now up for the East Midlands Bench Press 2010.

http://www.hamiltonsfitness.co.uk/EMBench2010.htm

You can download the entry form and post it in or enter on-line.

Entry forms should also be going out in the post to anyone that I have an address for (that's about 150 powerlifters)

Everyone is invited come and compete regardless of your division. It is being held under GBPF (was BWLA) rules, if you are not already a GBPF member you can download a GBPF membership form from the competition website.

You can also choose to lift equipped or unequipped, so an ideal first competition.

This competition will qualify you for the British Unequipped Bench Press in June 2010 or the British Bench Press Jan 2011

We will be live streaming the competition on the website.

If you have any questions you can post them here or email me on info@hamiltonsfitness.co.uk

This is usually a very well attended competition with a great atmosphere, so hopefully we'll all have a great time again this year.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

(apart from JT and JohnMarsden obviously.)

British Bench 2010, you may have qualified.

You may not have received an invitation for the British Bench Press but you may have qualified to lift in it.

If you have lifted the qualifying weight for your weight group and age class in any GBPF bench press or three lift competition (see http://www.hamiltonsfitness.co.uk/BenchQual.htm) then you can enter even if you haven't received an invitation.

On the competition website ( http://www.hamiltonsfitness.co.uk/Bench2010.htm ) is the official entry form that you can print off and send in, put a note on the form of where, when and how much you lifted to qualify. Do it straight away and you won't miss the entry cutoff date.

For more details of the competition see: http://www.hamiltonsfitness.co.uk/Bench2010.htm

Hope to see you there.

It's time to start getting your entries in, if you haven't already.

If you haven't got your invite yet and you know that you have qualified then download an entry from http://www.hamiltonsfitness.co.uk/Bench2010.htm and fill it in with a note saying where and when you qualified.

Hey Moz, Bryn, yes all on one day.

Our local pub from the gym is 200m down the road, the Balkern Gate, which is part of the Premier Inn, http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/COLBAL/colchester-a12, so if you are going to stay over this looks like a good option.

I thought that there were at least two drug free federations at international level?

Im gonna eat some humble pie here and stop fed bashing. Your right WDFPF do do unequipped lifting really well. I think unequipped lifting is the future of powerlifting (altho I wish it wasnt because I love shirts) Would the IPF taking on uunequipped powerlifting at a european and world level just dilute powerlifting even futher

I'm not in the know at that level, but I understand that the IPF are looking at introducing unequipped lifting at European and World level.

Tannhauser said:Personally, I'm all for remembering the sacrifices of those in WWII or other conflicts. I'm not sure why that means that you're obliged to do it at the same time that everybody else does it, why that means you're a bad person and deserve to be beaten up if you don't.

Are most people actually showing any respect by observing the silence? Are they thinking of the illustrious dead while keeping quiet? Or are they just making sure that they don't fall foul of their peer group? Looking at some of the overreactions on this thread, woe betide anyone who doesn't conform.

And even if they don't keep quiet because they genuinely just don't care, so what? What business is that of anyone else's? There are no shortage of tragedies to remember and be affected by, but it makes no sense to try to bully everyone else into feeling the same. For example, why a minute's silence for 9/11, and not for 1,000,000 killed under Suharto, or Rwanda, or in the Boxing Day Tsunami? Grief and remembrance are personal things that you can't impose on others.

There's an irony in pointing out that people died to protect freedom, but at the same time suggesting we brutalise others when they exercise that freedom.

There are plenty of ways in which somebody can show support for the existing armed forces, if that's what you choose. Keeping quiet for two minutes is only one of them.

Well said
» Anglian Bench Press to be live streamed this Sunday 11am (Go to post)01-09-2009 @ 16:44
We will be streaming the Anglian Bench Press this Sunday, the 6th September, live.

Lifting will start at 11am and with 50 competitors should go on to around 3.45pm.

There are at least 6 British Record holders competing and I know a number of them will be attempting to break their, or others', records.

Go to http://www.hamiltonsfitness.co.uk/ABench2009.htm for the full list and lift off times as well as the link to the streaming host on Sunday.

There should also be the opportunity to post live comments on the streaming page as the competition unfolds.
