I'm NOT trying to say that the cross fit guys are the fittest or anything like that, I'm just saying Decathletes are power/speed based, and not made for edurence

What makes you think Decathletes are s**t at 1500m. The world best decathlon 1500m is 32secs slower than the World record at 3m 58secs. Add maybe another 30 seconds for the other 160ish meters and yo have a 4:30 mile. Not s**t at all and a time many club runners would be happy with. I doubt many crossfitters would run it anywhere near that time. In fact, I doubt many would run it sub 5:30.

I love it when you make sense!!

Honestly what's more likely?

Olympic Gold medalist in Deacathlon being able to put up a HUGE overhead squat and smash burpees and pull ups like a boss or Grace under 2 mins

OR

Rich 'the tin man' Froning running 100m in 10.3,Long jumping 7.8, shot putting 18.4, pole vaulting 5.30 or throwing the Javelin 78m, High jump 2.20, 110m hurdles in 13.8, throw the discus 56m and run a sub 4:00 1500m?

Decathlon events take YEARS of dedicated training to master and hone whereas cross fit events are very easily accessible.

Re: the money reward and why decathletes or other olympic hopefuls don't do Crossfit, it's because it's absolutely beneath the olympics, world champs or any number of events in terms of recognition.

If the cross fit guys were truly the fittest, strongest people on the planet, we'd be watching them in London.

I should add that I actually have no issue with cross fit and think it's a great thing to be involved in BUT to suggest the winner of the cross fit games is the most complete athlete on the planet is farcical.

And Rich Froning is? Put him in a marathon. Proper test of endurance with zero skills required. Wouldn't rank top 100 in the world womens rankings.

again, I never said that

all I was saying is that Decathletes aren't ultimate endurance athletes, i expect the guy that wins the gold in london would do worse than Rich Froning in a marathon

I class that as a compliment to the decathlete, who the hell wants to be good at running a marathon! Happy

again, I expect the winner of the decathlon would be poor at a marathon, because they will be f**king fast at 100m

Why all the Xfit, my dads harder than Chuck Norris and me mate Dave's dead fit posts? The link is for British weightlifting advertising British weightlifting courses. If Xfit are happy to get involved and provide premesis for this to happen then what of it? It's not like BWL are up there in the popularity stakes at the moment with people falling over themselves to get involved. A bit of reinvention and collaberation can't make things any worse for lifters.

I love Xfit Manchester and Mark Beck. It's lemon fresh heaven at Pear mill.

I also loved the vid on the first page although I'm not convinced it's all Xfit so much as people being tits. Funny though.

No mate. I don't think I'd get too much out of them, and don't see a future for myself with BWL. I do think this would be a good collaberation if done right though.

I'd be happy to see young Shaun etc on Xfit funding kitted out with new Reebok stuff at internationals for example. Maybe BWL are just using available gyms? People are scared of change, but WL needs to, for the sake of the lifters.

Ok, so what time do you think he'd run? It's all totally relative

If he can break 3hr he'd be 83rd at the london marathon as a woman

If he can break 2:40, and i very much doubt he can, he'd just about sneak 26th as a woman at the london marathon. I'm afraid that isn't an indication of being elite male.

Froning is a beast, it's obvious when you watch him, but it'd be naive to assume that, just because he's posted some mad stuff on youtube and won the cross fit games, he's the best all-round athlete on the planet. This is not true.

He's bloody great at loads of random things (that aren't that random to him because he trains them all religiously) and is the best at cross fit. I'm afraid that's it.

You can't deny his success on YouTube though

I've saw his channel, it's the future

not sure if serious...

The best decathletes can bench/ clean/ squat/ dead 300/ 350/ 400/ 500 plus. Can runs 10x 400m repeats all sub 60 secs. Can run a sub 5 minute mile. Can do 25+ dead hang pull ups. These are all really clear indications of "elite fitness". Add in some xfit specific skills such as double unders, muscle ups etc, give them a year to train and they would kill the games.
