It does a pretty good job of keeping blood sugar levels stable. I think the bigger issue is a psychological one in that eating is a social ritual and causes hormonal changes, feelings of satiety etc. People are so used to eating regularly that it is difficult to change this habit, similar to how many people crack open some cans or a bottle of wine after work - it's not because they are alcoholic but it signifies the end fo the working day for them and is a habit. Possibly right psychology does play a big role but I think it would also depend on your insulin sensivity. People who cant fast have some issue with blood sugar control and some insulin disregulation. The easiest way to sort this out is to become fat adapted and the best way to do that is low carbing it. I probably should have said that I think its easier to adapt to a intermittent fasting program when on low carbs rather than a moderate or high carb diet. People tend to eat less and fewer meals on low carb plans due to the increased satiety (long digestion time, reduced insulin response)and it just makes that initial phase easier to do. This doesnt mean carbs can never be part of your diet again to be able to fast but once you're not the slave of hunger induced by blood sugar swings you learn what proper hunger is and eat appropriately. | ||
