if you have hernidated a disc and its causing a numbing feeling down your leg then i wouldn't rush back to squats or dead lift to soon but my problem is different from yours.

best thing i could say is that you should try and keep it simple working on your core strength and mobility plus plenty stretching.

a person you should contact on this sight ie mark Lawson (marklawson) as his injury sounds very similar to yours in terms of how your feeling.

Cant see me doing any compound lifts for a long time tbh as I feel pretty fragile right now and contrary to how I may have come across to some Im in no rush to get my wheelchair license , will be looking to work on core strength as part of rehab as if Im honest thats one area I have been lacking and no doubt lead to the injury in the first place

cheers for advice and I will pm Mark lawson now

best thing you can do!
better to be safe than crippled meathead - whats the point in being a meathead if you cant actualy lift anything?!?!

I hear what your saying and appreciate your concerns but I am really in no rush to end my lifting ( or walking) journey yet , the above advice is sound and stands to reason but with strongman being such a specialist sport which really dosent compare to many others with regards to stress on the bones and joints it makes sense to ask people who actually compete about their own experience in coming back from this type of injury.

Consider sumo DLs in future. No pressure in the lower back at all (relatively speaking). Happy

Hello sir , if your still in alot of pain with neurological symptoms in your leg wait another week or two before you train . You are probably still taking painkillers and anti inflamm's. I don't know of any osteo/physio who takes a dim view of strongman . They just think they're madTongue

Would this include upper body training as well? I an currently taking Ibuprofen 2x200mg 3xday paracetamol 2x500mg 2xday and dihydrocodeine 2x30mg 2xday , my back is feeling better all the time and the numbness is slowly subsiding.

Also right this minute im inclined to agree MAD MAD MAD!!Grin Grin

Cheers mate
