iv been considering doing it for a while now but maybee doing front squats instead of back. whats the verdict on the 531? has anyone had any success with it?

It works for some people, it doesn't work for other people.

Try it and see what happens, use the experience to learn what works for you and what doesn't to guide your future training, which is the answer to 90% of these threads asking for opinions on different training programs.

I've been using it for a quite a while and have made decent pogress, as have all of my friends that train with me, and I would of probably made even more gains if I didn't pick up so many injuries during rugby season. It's a good program if you follow it exactly as it's set out in the book, a lot of people I see saying it didn't work for them usually ignored starting with the 90% training max.

I cant remember which article on t-nation that jim wrote it, but from the horses mouth (jim wendler) he said no to front squats as a 5/3/1 movement, but yes as an accessory.
In my experience, as my front squat is alot poorer than my back squat, my back squat regressed when i tried front squat as a main movement.
