Here is my take on it... - 270kg jerk from behind the neck (a new pb) - 400kg deadlift x 3reps. - 290kg no-hands squat (world record) - 190kg snatch (25kg more than ever been snatched on Scottish soil before). With a donation of some money (and a cake!) at the platform to show appreciation! A great bloke with lots of stories throughout. For me, the best quote was when he was explaining how he wouldn't know what he would have done in life without weightlifting. He said 'God must have kissed my head and said 'You will be a weightlifter, motherf*cker'. A instant classic that one! | ||

 still a devious weightlifting bastard Member 43, 14374 posts | Woke up in Wales, back home to Warrington, to Adders to pick Al up, then up North to the land of the other funny talkers. Well worth the trip to see the above lifts, although I was just as impressed with things some may have missed. Lowering 230 and 250 jerks bn was a feat in itself, and getting to a 190 snatch (at the end of a workout ) from 130 in 4 singles takes some doing. Very interesting that after a 270 jerk, 400 pulls, and 290 playabout squat, he dropped back to an empty bar to warm up for the snatch. Most impressive thing for me, he didn't miss a lift, and never looked like doing.When explaining his back ground he said "Weightlifting is an art. A weightlifter shoots the bullseye of a target 100's meters away. A power lifter brings out this huge cannon..." The crowd laughing indicated that he didn't need to finish the line. Asked if he would ever return to Olympic lifting he replied sadly "It is my dream" Toldof a guy at some airport who squoze his arms and asked him what he would do with all the muscles he replied "I'll kick your ass". Great lifter, great bloke, great night. | ||
