A rather slow five

The fourth took a while and was almost certainly wrong but it did help rather a lot

Due to the fact that it has been cold, in fact very cold, for the past week it came as no surprise that the foot pump was called into use yesterday, 1.5 pounds added all round and the feeling of a job well done.

A swift three

Used the old openers today and to very good effect, thirty five, maybe forty seconds, no more than that

Sloppy.

Three today.

Usual openers and that was that really. A quick and painless one.

A brutal five. Unpleasant and poorly played.

Used the usual openers today and while I had four letters, the first possibility turned out to be an impossibility and the second was a long time coming.

Knowing what your usual opener starts with, if that letter is present I often think "Pete could get a good result here". Often you do. Quite a useful letter I feel, but only if showing yellow or green. Maybe I should incorporate it more often myself.

Monday, 22nd January, start 15:30

Traffic problems today and despite the thermometer saying it's much warmer than of late it really doesn't feel like it.

Close grip bench
20 x 10
20 x 8
20 x 6
30 x 5
40 x 5
50 x 5
55 x 5
60 x 5
65 x 5
70 x 5
75 x 3
75 x 3
75 x 3

The seventy five felt a good deal heavier than the seventy before it. No heroics then

That's a big question, since changing my openers I have discovered that it is very rare for both sets to be great and for both sets to be rubbish. But rather common for one set to be great and the other to be rubbish.

Today was a perfect example where the new ones left me ponding for quite some time. But the old ones would have had the answer, still in four but in easily under a minute.

As I never know which to use, this doesn't really help in any way at all.

Good luck though

A straightforward three after the vexation yesterday. On the subject of opening words, I am convinced that mine will never actually be a word of the day, but it is quite useful.
