I am going to visit my eldest who is at Sheffield uni in march - I am doing the Sheffield half marathon on the 26th of March , So i thought it would be nice to take him to watch the powerlifting the day befor

50 quid each for the cheapest ticket !!

DYNAMIC PRICING and TICKETMASTER can go f**k themselves !

Iron maiden tickets have tripled since i last saw them a few years ago.

this annoyed me so much i made a new post about it.

f**k me £50 to watch the powerlifting, surely it can't be that much .

that sounds very expensive, what fed is that ?

to be fair though £50 does seem very dynamic pricing

I thought from the title it was just a local meet, and the price blew my mind. Turns out it's an all-star/prize money type event, but still.

IPF i think?
most expensive tickets are nearly £200 Eek
enjoyable to compete in but PL is one of the most boring sports for a spectator.
I hope they at least try to add some razzmatazz and showbiz a la old WPO shows.

That would be about my limit. Powerlifting is fun to do but as dull as dishwater to watch, and it drags on for so long. Plus many are live streamed now so people are even less inclined to go and smell the sweat so to speak

I am absolutely with the idea that powerlifting is normally boring to watch but the guy organising this one is an absolute wizard and it will not be comparable to any powerlifting comp you've ever been to. It will be more like Giants Live vs pub car park for strongman. I really hope it goes well for all involved, brilliant that the lifters are getting paid so well.

And 470 on his last, benched 272.5 and deadlifted 399, attempted 410 for his last lift and was failed 2:1 by the referees presumably for putting it down before he was told to. Overturned by the jury though. Wrongly in my view. But then juries are always wrong in my view

Everyone I know who was there said the atmosphere was incredible and no one commented on it not being worth the admission. But I guess if you've spent the last fifteen years saying powerlifting is boring and unexciting, it's difficult to admit you might have been wrong?
