Strong stuff, how often should one do block/rack pulls or would you do a few weeks then switch to of the floor or deficits? Question for everyone, did them exclusively for a around 5-6 weeks but felt sluggish off the floor.

I'd say its a very individual thing. For me I fail right below the knee, I do pause deadlifts and block pulls around that height to strength my weakest part, my lockout. I don't do any speed or deficit work.

My style makes me very fast from the floor but I sacrifice my lockout strength, this helps that. Also psychologically if I pull more and my body can feels it from height its a thousands times easier pulling from the floor.

I either rotate pulls from blocks and from the floor each session, or work from a block reducing the height each session until I'm back to the floor again. I also find block pulls beat me up less so I can train more frequently, it takes me a good two weeks to recover from normal deads these days!

Many ways to skin a cat, just my two cents....

Edit - oh yeah never ever do rack pulls!! just blocks or bumper plates if you want to pull from height.

Thanks mate!

Here's a final bit of overload training before I attempt 340 in a few weeks.

Last night I deadlifted 235kg for 10 reps. According to a 1 rep max calculator that should give me a 313kg max. I was wondering what some of you bigger deadlifters can do for 10 reps?

I don't rep much as I hate it but I have done 260kg x 10 and 220kg x 20...hated both.

Not that I fall into this category but 212*10 and 160*20 @ 85kg. I loved both.
