Hi guys, I had one session with Dave (vanillagorilla) and he taught me the beginnings of the hang clean and hang snatch. Since relocating up north I'm even further from the 2 drive to see him.

I've since been practicing anyway and I'm not particularly good but would like to hear some constructive help on my form please. I've not even attempted the split jerk.

Thanks in advance

snatch is a lot better than clean. Would spend a lot of time from high hang and blocks on both movements do a f**k tonne of volume with 60-80% loads.

Do plenty of pulls form the floor as well.

Bridge the gap with pause work into full movements from the floor after a period.

Your main problem with clean is you are trying to get under at the expense of everything else and your not competent enough for everything to flow into each other properly (hench the hang and block work).

I agree that your extension is much better on the snatch than on the clean. However, on the snatch, you're too upright in the hang position and you end up on your toes too soon, robbing yourself of power in the process. Your knees should be back and your shoulders in front of the bar when the bar is at knee height. Then keep your heels down longer before coming to full ankle/knee/hip extension.

Lower the weight, hammer the drills, you know how it goes.

Almost definitely, depending on where he is.

Thanks for help lads. Much appreciated. Echoing what Dave said but I thought I fixed it. Will work on it.
