4 Days off as was in Kent , think i needed it.

Cleans and Jerks.

50x1,1,1,1
60x1
60x1
60x1
70x1
70x1
80x1
80x1
85x1
85x1
85x1
90xf
90xf
90xf
90xf
90xf
85x1
90xf haha

Each time i got closer, reason why i went for it so many times was becuase i was getting it high enough just could get my elbows under. some times it even hit my chest and elbows were to slow getting up to hold it. 85kg is still easier then it ever has been so moving in the right direction.

Paused squats beltless.

50x1
70x3
110x3
130x1
150x1
160x1

Snatch grip DL

50x3
90x3
110x3
150x1
150x1(PB i think)

hanging leg raises 3x12

session was just under 2 hours.

What have you got against 87.5kg? Grin I nearly always work on percentage increases in weight and not absolutes so to go from 85 to 90 is nearly a 6% increase. You wouldn't expect your deadlift to increase by 12kg without a fairly well structured routine......

Personally, I'd be surprised if the problem is not getting your elbows up enough. If the bar is in the perfect position on the clean then you should be able to rack it without having to have your elbows perfectly horizontal. I reckon it could be that the bar is just slightly in front of you. This would mean that you'd fail because your elbows aren't high enough to stop the weight slipping off your delts but the low elbows are not the primary fault.

If that makes sense? Confused

PS. Good work on plugging away at the 90kg. A guy I used to train with recent snatched 102.5kg on his 17 attempts.....YEP, 17 tries, so it can be done even after numerous failed lifts. Happy

Well 85 went so easily!! Unhappy Kicking myself afterward though.

And i think your again (as always) right, however i think it could be both, as anything after 80 i always catch with 3 fingers and i have to like stretch my lats and forewarms for ages before i can even rack the bar properly.
I will try to keep it much closer. I am getting bruises on my legs so maybe the bars is banging my legs to hard and moving away from me ???

Yeah, to be fair you're right, it probably is a combination of both factors, as it'll always be difficult to rack a clean with low elbows.

I think the bruises on your legs are a pretty telling sign that something isn't right cos really the bar should brush your thighs, not smash into them. What I used to do a lot was smash my thighs into the bar but at the same time throw my shoulders back from the bar as well. These opposing movements don't produce much upward lift either. Basically, you can get away with banging your thighs into the bar (to a degree) as long as your shoulders are staying over the bar as long as possible.

Happy

So do you think that starting my shoulder a little more over the bar would help this? it doesnt happen at all with my snatch, snatch only brushes my legs

Another good session. Was meant to Bench, push press and upper back......
Didnt do that did Snatch and Jerk instead so completely different

Warm up :
usual lower body upper body stretches

overhead squats bringing hand space in every rep
Snatch balance of all varities

40kgx1
40x1
40x1
40x1
50x1
50x1
50x1
60x1
60x1
60x1
60x1...alll very easy , so i made the same mistake i did yday and went up by 5kg not 2.5kg , massive error

65xf x11 ....failed it 11 times....nearly had it probably about 5 of those times, just was going way out in front and I couldn't understand why

Then went down

got 62.5 x1

then 65xf
then 65x1!!!!(PB)
65x1 got it again.

Then got cheek yand went for 67.5kg and missed it by the smallest of margins.

Girlfriend came in and started ripping into me saying i snatch like a girl.

She then said if i got 70kg snatch she would buy me nandos tonight...

So I put it on and got it ....probably best reps all days

70x1 PB Grin Grin Grin

so 7.5kg PB

Jerks

50x3
50x3
50x3
60x1
60x1
70x1
75x1
80x1

Shoulder were bit tired from snatching and back foot kept slipping on platform.

This was about 2 hours so just finished with

Bw back extensios 2x20
Hanging legs riases 2x12

Happy as can be but need to stop letting bar go in front of me , consistency would have been much better.

Although when I manned up , taped my thumb blister and changed to hook bar stayed much closer.

BRILLIANT WORK!! Especially after all the graft that session, just goes to show what a bit of coaxing from the missus can do!

It might not necessarily be that they need to start with your shoulders more over the bar, just that they should stay over as long as possible.

Good and Bad to day

Front squats : my pb is 145 with belt and double overhand grip.

Front squats no belt clean grip.

50x3
70x3
100x3
120x1
130xf?!?!
120 was so easy on the legs but my STUPID lack of flexibility means I cant keep my elbows up and it just falls off.
120x1 paused for ever, just proive my legs are strong enough for 130.

100x3x3 paused for 3 count. easy as.

Back squats

100x3
120x3
140x1(paused)
160x1(paused)
added belt

170x1 easy
180x1 bit of grinder which surprised me, i dont get much out of a belt anymore at all.

Think I need to really give my core a good going over as its definitely what's holding my squats back.

Cleans

50x1
50x1
50x1
50x1
70x1
70x1
80x1
again racking it is the only issue the bar is travelling very nicely i just cant get elbows under it properly always catching it 3 fingered if i do catch it.

jerks

Worked up to 80kg x2 but back foot kept slipping on platform for some reason. Maybe cleaners varnished it or something.

Snatch grip DL : best test of my core.

worked up to 140x3 which was hard/.

3x12 hanging leg raises.

Many thanks mate. 90 went up quite easily relatively wasn't a particularly good rep so i'm confident i've got more. My jerk always feel best after a clean.

They can be a total bas***d. Very difficult to keep coming back and having a crack so fair play! Got any comps planned?
