Happy St. George's Day ! Cant beat a bit of Dragon Slaying on a monday morning !

Should this be Public holiday ?
I think so, its the only British day we have left !

Every body celebrates Paddys day, but no-one celebrates St Georges day ! Its WRONG !Unhappy

I don't know a lot about St. George, but if I remember correctly, he wasn't English, never set foot in England and most likely seems to have been a Roman soldier of possibly Turkish origins who converted to Christianity.
I'd like a bank holiday to celebrate a true English hero, but St. George has always struck me as a bit of an inappropriate choice.
Hope I haven't offended any Roman soldiers of possibly Turkish origins who may have recently converted to Christianity and told a great big lie about killing a mythical creature.

At least according to the story he actually went to Ireland to rid them of those terrible snakes that until then Ireland was infamous for.
They both seem a bit crap really.
What did St. David do? Was he any good, or did he just pretend to slaughter a herd of aggressive unicorns or something?
