Big fan of TWI Member 761, 425 posts SQ 220, BP 165, DL 260645.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 26.06.2011 @ 14:45 PM by stainless This turned out to be a great little comp,everybody appeared to have fun,nobody got hurt and it was really well received by a more than appreciative crowd.If it looked a bit rough and ready it's because it was.We hadn't even seen the venue before we turned up with the kit,we just picked the least s**ttiest bit of the field avoiding the cross fire of the axe throwing contest,nonetheless we were all set up and ready to go in an hour.I can't thank the guys enough for taking the time to come out and put on a show,we'd had a lot of pull outs through injuries etc but in the end 4 teams worked out just fine. This was part of a big bike festival over three days held every year,i'd figured these bikers would like strongman and it went down great,we even had plenty of takers for the crowd challenge-farmers for distance. Everything was kept basic and simple,the ground was well uneven and there was a cow pat at least every ten feet and as the guys found out running over lumpy ground with yoke and farmers adds a whole different dimension to it.Same goes for stones,covered in grass and carried in way more difficult.But everybody just got stuck in and gave it their all.The fourth event was an event we stole from the pure strength challenge 20+ years ago,both guys holding swords at arms length with a wine glass balanced on the end,some thing a little different to mix it up,not so much strength but local muscle endurance and sheer will power,winning time up near 3 mins. Andy was on excellent form on the mike as usual,big thanks to every one to mucked in and helped out. Thanks also to Martin for posting the vids,too bad you didn't catch what was for me the individual strength feat of the day and that was Jeremy's popping up that 100kg stone in the press,the lightest guy there,but hey strength is strength. | ||
