Introduction

So this is my first training log at Sugden. Had a profile for a couple of years but never used it, just occasionally browsed the forums here and there. Jack Revans has persuaded me to use it since he will most likely be my new training partner depending on how my schedule will fit as he's joining the gym I work at whilst in London lol.

Little bit about myself: Raw lifter, planning on competing in the South East Classics (GBPF) in a couple of months as a Junior in the 74kg weight class (currently 71kg atm). Before anyone asks, I have a twin brother called Merat who's a Powerlifter too (competes with wraps and is stronger/bigger) so don't be confused, I'm not him! Training is based off the Reactive Training Systems 4 day intermediate program. Been training with RTS principles since Jan 2012 but I've been on and off last year with constant changing of goals so I'm trying not to lose focus this time around.

This was pretty crap as I was really rushing my sets and was probably knackered but didn't realise it. I usually do some core after but I barely had time as I had to get back to work shortly after to close the gym early because of new years. I've done 150x5 beltless and fresh before, but I tend to fair better with low bar (best 5 atm is 160x5). Also recently got a nagging left hip flexor at the moment which is not so fun.

Squats, paused bench, over head pressing and some lats tomorrow after work so will update when I get back.

Felt good today, played around with some adjustments on my squat such as using a false grip, closer grip and a closer stance, found it helped with minimizing hip flexor pain making hitting depth less of a hassle, elbows felt sore after though. Didn't get the PB I wanted so made up with getting a volume PB instead.

Thanks man, wanted 5 but ah well, I'll get it. Need to work on keeping knees out more, head wasn't back enough and I need to engage my lats more in between reps, other than that not bad considering I decided to change my set up last minute. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, we'll see.

Good example I've seen in regards to set up is Brooks Conway and Mike Tuchscherer.

Yeah fair point!

s**t session this morning, not use to morning sessions as I've been training in the afternoon for a while now. Trained with the Sugden famous Jack Revans today as well lol.

The new setup I've been playing around with is no good. Need to stop over analysing s**t and stop fixing what's not broken! Will squat as normal from on Thursday, hopefully I won't make a mess of them lol. Jack reckons I should give high bar a go, but I just found out SE Classics is now on the 23rd Feb so this gives me 6 weeks of prep including a taper...not going to change anything until after my comp.
