Member 5870, 19 posts | Hello, looking for some advice. i have been having some knee problems... it all started while warming up for deadlifts i got a shooting pain on the inside of my right knee, after a month or so it seems to have transfered to the outer side of my knee and if i squat too far down / sit on my knees/kneeling down i get a pain in my knee that goes down the front of my calf, its on the lower right hand side of my knee, that feels direct on the knee cap... hope that makes sense. has anyone experienced this, any advice who i should see about this issue? physio? osteopath? Thanks a lot

Aiming for a 250 squat by the end of 2012 Member 1989, 3168 posts SQ 240, BP 140, DL 270650.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | The knee is such a complex joint that it is virtually impossible to guess at what the problem is. I would get an appointment with both a physio and an osteopath or chiropractor since they will look at it from different viewpoints. I would advise finding one that specialises in sports injuries. In the meantime just do the usual - Rest it as much as possible, ice the area, get a support if you feel need it. Obviously I'm not a doctor of any kind but have had more than my fair share of knee issues and I wouldn't mess about with it, get it seen ASAP.

Member 5870, 19 posts | Thanks, its strange, i can still train, it doesnt hurt squatting or deadlifting, i feel its presence but its not painful. even hit some PB's recently and it wasnt painful, just seems to flair up every now and then..

Pain mainly just behind the shin. No idea what it was, Didnt squat or Log press for years as it was the "Just before lockout" movement that caused the pain, Stuff like walking down the stairs set it off. I recently Bought some knee wraps (a month or so ago) as I didn't want chicken legs the rest of my life just because of a small injury, so i started squatting with light sets of 100kg or so, with plenty of warm up sets, Ibuprofen, and stretching frequently (Yoga type s**t). Pain is minimal now and I no longer need the wraps to squat. Which is good as putting on knee wraps to squat a nearly empty bar was embarrassing

Get knee sleeves - they keep the joints warm. I would say ask your GP for an MRI. I had "knee issues" in my left knee. Right meniscus had degenerated, and I thought the left would be slightly worn. Turns out I have a 40mm tear in my left meniscus, which explained an awful lot. Is there occasional swelling? Can you touch your ass with your heel?
