We're about 7 weeks away from the main event on the North West Powerlifting calendar. The NW Championships are at Intershape in Colne on December 5th and generally prettymuch everyone turns out to lift at this one. For something new I thought we might have a championship T-shirt which lifters could pre order and I'll post details of that up soon. If I could ask that lifters get their entries to me by post as early as possible it will make the whole show that bit easier to organise.
If I could also ask that someone from each group/gym or club could volunteer to do some loading on the day it will again contribute to the smooth running of the event, you don't need to be a mathematician to work the weights out as the referees will help you correctly select the weights. As an added incentive there's a free t-shirt in it for you!
As usual there's the good food and warm welcome from the Intershape staff.
Help us to make this year's championship to be the best one yet.
Bryn

If I'm still in one piece ( I do seem to be falling apart quite slowly ) I will be in the old, fat blokes section

We have 25 entries in so far so it looks like it should be a good day.
We could do with a couple more spotters please!!
Look forward to seeing you all next Sunday.

Is there an entry list online anywhere?

Would be good to see what strong company I shall be keeping whilst I try and struggle my way to British qualification! Happy

We'll have to see how the numbers workout on the day but probably yes. I suppose numbers could be down a few on that if the weather is poor. I'll be keeping a close eye on the situation and will be flexible with the weigh in time if people are struggling.
dsingh: the comp is normal IPF rules so there's no seperate unequipped class.

At the moment the road network is running well in this area and we still plan to hold the contest as planned. If you are having difficulties travelling on the day please contact me on 07769 717075. We appreciate that many people train hard towards what is the big event of the year and so long as the M6 and M65 remain open we will be running the contest.
Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Going to hijack this thread a bit in a rather selfish manner!

Due to the weather, I'm having some serious issues with getting over to compete now. Basically the guy who was meant to be driving and helping me with suits, shirt and wraps can't drive now because his Mum won't let him use her car in this weather. And I'm basically the same, Mother is worried I'll smash her car if I drive it in the snow!

So I'm looking into getting the train over (if they're running) on Saturday and staying the night. However, the nearest Travelodge I've found is in Burnley, so like 8 miles from the comp.

So I need help.

Does anyone know of any REALLY cheap B&Bs that are near to the venue that I could stay at, that wouldn't be booked up at such short notice?

Or does anyone have any other bright ideas?

HELP!

Where are you travelling from? Maybe someone else is going from there who you could carshare with.
