Mark needs a lot more than 100kg (which he may already have in him, who knows?) to beat Dean Bowring. But he may well be one of the top two supers at some point. Dunno.

Dean has totalled 1060 I believe and totalled 1055 at the IPF worlds with certainly no gifts and an easy final deadlift to win on bodyweight. I honestly reckon he will total 1100 before too long.

So was the squat with kit ? I know the bench was raw. It will be interesting to see if Marc decides to go to the British and have a go on the bigger platform and compete dont suppose there are any other vids from the day

I'm sure Mark wouldn't want to be selected ahead of lifters who can out total him just for his celebrity status

There was nothing in my post that suggested that in the slightest.

My point was that as Mark is extremely well known becuse of his Strongman exploits GBPF would be silly not to make the most of him being involved in the sport. Whether that is trying to get an in to his sponsors, asking to use his name in connection with publicising the sport or whatever.

The squat was in suit and wraps although they were almost as new to him as listening to the commands. Wraps didnt hinder his walking at all and the suit stayed wraps up throughout. I'm no expert but I'm guessing thats not tight?
I doubt for a guy with his background that a GBPF national platform would be considered 'bigger'. Maybe a bit more of a drive?Happy

It would be great to see 3 or 4 SHW lifters totaling over 1000kg at the British next year, hopefully with a World Deadlift and European Total record thrown in along the way. It certainly can't do British Powerlifting anything but good.

Even better than I thought jt! I will have to be careful or my position as Dean's number one fan and nutswinger may not be secure!

The meaning was regarding powerlifting not his creditable strongman career local comp to the british = bigger comp

I can't believe what a bunch of whingers some of you lot are! You're like Harry Enfield's Frank character: If the GBPF don't ratify Felix's record I shall say OI! GBPF! NOOOOO! etc, etc.

Mark has done his first comp and has done rather well, especially in the deadlift where it looks like he might be able to get a bona fide world record soon. Great! Well done Mark! Hopefully we'll see him at a few more comps and hopefully I'll meet him at some point. And I mean all of that sincerely.

Well looking at the vid i would say the centre ref is the Ian Hampson who does the records

Ian Hampson and Carole Springett both IPF cat2 were refereeing along with myself and the record forms were completed and taken away by Ian. So yes it will be recognised as a British record. The British Masters in April will be a good opportunity for Mark to have a go at a world record as it's a national championships where there will be IPF Cat 1 officials it is also being held about 3 miles from where he lives!

Just my 2p worth, its not about the records......
He didnt have a clue what to expect yesterday, and as mentioned was relieved when Alan told him his lifts...
He has been a member since the beginning of the year this was the only comp that didnt clash with "Strongman" .
For Felix Its not what you lift but the company your in when lifting....
I predict bigger numbers at the adder's pp in Jan, ....
