I wouldn't mock Andy, at least he stepped up and tried. On the day, he wasn't up to his own high standards, but he still tried.
In terms of Brian Shaw, I think he would have pulled a very high number for sure. Perhaps on par with Ed and Benni, but he pulled out with an injury so we will have to wait and see.
Does anyone know if Saddler and Bryce have plans to repeat this deadlift comp next year? I guess that from the interest this element of the show had already generated, it will go ahead so a lot of the guys will be working on this... So we could see even more guest lifters invited to the deadlift comp.
You know for a fact that Big Z will be wanting this record, after losing the deadlift to Brian previously at worlds, he will want to come big stronger than ever and of course, Brian has a point to prove too.

Later in the day they mentioned something about possibly holding it as a separate event next year, which would be a great idea, IMO. Not only so it doesn't impact on the strongman comp, but so the strongmen can prep 100% on deadlift.
I suppose it's whether they think enough people would turn up just for the deadlift comp.

For me the deadlift comp was the best and most exciting part of the day!

I read today Z was semi-retired , he will train for WSM 15 only . Hope he makes Arnold but I doubt . Anyway I think he will deadlift next year and will break the record .

Colin did say this on Saturday, which is why he wasn't competing

Z doesn't need the record. He is already the greatest ever.

Max log and max dead on same day. Highest total wins. Obviously if you max one, the other would suffer but it would be bragging rights for the static strongest man.

Would be great if they repeated it it would give Eddie a chance to nail that lift no questions and maybe see what benni could do full on,also shaw, shaw is great but I'm not sure what he could do.I'd like to have seen loz lift again.and of course Andy I'm not sure he was on par that day. Haveing said that not sure if the deadlift record should have been on the same day because it took so much out of them and then so many weren't able to carry on which was a shame.

Honestly if you look at the 435kg lift, i would guess loz could have hitched up the 461 too if not for injury. Could be wrong but it certainly looked that way.

the 435 was very good, but i dont think he could necessarily have done 461...

it would be a huge jump from his previous pb of 433? also i think having to do 446 too would have been fatiguing too

Loz has always been very strong off the floor and judging by how quickly that 435 went to his knees i think he gets 461 to his knees. I can't see him stoping till he's locked out from there. He obviously made a lot of improvements to his deadlift either way.

Loz was looking great. I think he would've hitched 461. Such a shame he seems injury prone these days because he looked back on top form.

Not sure this logic applies because Ed's previous PB was even lower?

I reckon Loz would've got it and I think Brian would've also. Everyone was on fire and the crowd surely spurred people beyond expectations. Really impressed with Martin's 435 also.

The crowd were loving it, all the athletes got great support.
There were some great moments throughout the whole day. Can't wait for next year, Sadler and Bryce have done the sport a great service delivering the Europes in this manner.

It's very entertaining , great show . I understand that organizers try to make some money but It's starting to look like wrestling , too much advertizing . Stuff like "if u want to see Brian Shaw or Beni Magnusson buy a ticket " . Who need this ? It's annoying . This is strongman .

But in all fairness, they need to earn money too mate. So they need to hype it and sell tickets.

To quote Ed Hall, "People want to see freaky things" and seeing the likes of Hall, Benni and gang all smashing massive deads is pretty freaky.

Strongman is growing, this is a good thing.
