The best lifter this country has ever produced. He mixed it up with the best in the world when the best in the world were the best by a country mile. Awesome to watch, and still going stromg well into his 40s

In my opinion yes. Louis had more honours but I'd still put Morgan ahead of him due to the class of lifter he was holding his own against, just my opinion though of course. Louis was world champion so many people would disagree with me, and maybe they would be right to.

Morgan placed 4th in two Olympics, medalled in both European and World championships and won 4 Commonwealth Games, all in an era when the eastern bloc were in total domination (excluding the Commonwealth of course). That being said Louis was world champion LOL...

I was on a Junior squad at Bisham Abbey once when Gary Taylor turned up, he power snatched 150 in his jeans and trainers without any warm up, which was impressive.

I was told he was very good at snatch (I think 180+kg at 110kg in training when the WR was not much more), but struggled to do much more in the clean, which was very unfortunate give the huge strength he demonstrated overhead as a strongman.

I trained a few times with David Morgan back in the late 80s in John Burns gym, Swansea, not Oly stuff, just a bit of squatting. He was a very friendly and unassuming fella.

I have been informed by other associates that he was a first class shagger also.

Didn't his brother used to post in here a bit?
