Im talking about pre and during comp as well - energy drinks, hydration drinks any supps for energy/mental focus

Interested in hearing new ideas/suggestions

I eat very little on comp days, I don't want to waste energy digesting food. I usually drink energy drinks. People think you need to eat a lot, but it can be counterproductive because you waste energy digesting the food and also it affects hormone levels and can make you feel lethargic.

As a powerlifter you wouldn't need to eat that much however you're gonna need quite afew calories at a strongman competition.

Anti depressants

f**king lots of them

...joke!

Dunno probably as Aaron says maybe he knows his bench only. Which is why I posted in the thread, there are lots of specialists within their own given area of competition.

If you are training for competition shouldn't your diet and supp intake be exactly the same for a comp as it is for a big training session? If it isn't then you are someone who trains, and enters competitions. Nothing wrong with this but you'll always be selling yourself short in comps. Training for comps means that you find out what works for you during training and once you've found it repeat this on comp days. If it works why would you change it? If it doesn't work you need to change it.

Ive never done one so I've no idea, I was speaking about powerlifting comps because I assumed rawlifter was a Pler.

Totally take your point here but comps tend to take a loooot longer than training sessions. And you also end out being out the house all day.
Also theres the extra andrenaline and buzz, I wouldnt want to train 3/4 times a week taking caffine energy drinks etc but might want this extra buzz for a comp.

not really for a few of reasons. most cut weight before a comp, so they need to replenish lost nutrients after weigh in. its also very rare to max out on singles on all 3 comp lifts on a training session. comp days are incredibly long, closer to 9 hours as opposed to say 2 hours for training. the premise you mention is sound but needs tailored to the comp itself. thats assuming its a 3 lift powerlifting comp.

I don't know your circumstances, but what you are describing is training AND doing comps, not training for comps. If you take this approach your only reference points are previous comps. Why not throw in a training session every month or so to hone your prep, diet, warm up, buzz and maintenance? Once you have it down cold you can approach your comps with complete confidence which is an art in itself often ignored. OnwardsHappy
