So i am fairly new to the forum and a complete novice when it comes to Strongman.

Ive been training hard in the gym for the last 6 months trying to set PBs and increase strength/ size.

Last Sunday saw my first visit to Olympic Gym to train with the event equipment due to entering the Olypmic Dragon comp in September - wasnt planning on doing a comp until next year but what the hell i may as well get stuck in.

Really enjoyed the event training regardless of whether i set the world on fire with my lifts - anyway below is some of my PBs and what i managed last weekend.

Due to living in Blackpool i will be trying to get down to Olympic once a forenight and when i get back from Florida in July i will be going down every week until the comp.

Personal Bests

Squats 140kgs
Deadlifts 180kgs
Bench 100kgs
Push Press 77.5kgs

Not the greatest of PB's but its not a bad start - anyway this is what i mannaged last week with event training.

8" Log Press 1x72.5kgs Fail@85kgs
Axle Press 1x70kgs Fail@75kgs
Farmers Walk 72.5kgs 40 Meters
Yoke 140kgs 40 Meters
180kgs 20 Meters
220kgs 10 Meters
Stones 90kgs 4ft Platform
90kgs 5ft Platform
Log Bench Press 97.5kgs 4 Reps
97.5kgs 2 Reps
97.5kgs 2 Reps

So thats where i am at the moment - ive got 4 months to train for the comp and will be doing the most of my training in the gym with as much event training as i can.

Thanks for reading.Wink

Just done my first chest session with the APT wrist straps i bought - made a huge difference on bench and managed to increase my flat bench pb by 15kgs.

Flat BB Bench
10x60kgs
10x60kgs
5x80kgs
5x90kgs
2x100kgs
1x105kgs PB
1X110kgs PB
1x115kgs PB

Had to have a slight spot on the 115kgs but my pal said that he bearly touched it. Was going to try 1x120kgs but my left elbow started playing up so didnt want to chance it.

Decline Bench
8x70kgs
8x10kgs
8x70kgs

Not too heavy but wanted to rest my elbow for a few sets before going onto incline.

Incline BB Press
11 Reps in 30 Seconds @ 70kgs
8x70kgs
8x70kgs

Was aiming to get as many reps in 70 seconds in training for the comp but was getting serious pain from my elbow. Not anyway near comp reps but its a start.

Tricep Pushdowns
8x90kgs
8x90kgs
8x90kgs
8x90kgs

Was chuffed that i managed an increase of 15kgs on my flat bench but was gutted that my elbow played up for decline and incline.
Anyway, my vulcan elbow sleeves arrived today so shouldnt have any problems in the future.

Ouch - just done a quick session on overhead pressing but dont think it was the best idea given the my elbow was playing up.

Push Press
5x70kgs
5x70kgs
4x75kgs
4x75kgs
2x80kgs PB

Clean & Press
2x60kgs
2x70kgs
2x75kgs
0x80kgs
1x80kgs PB

At this point i was planning on doing DB Overhead Press but my elbow was giving me allsorts of pain so thought it best i call it a day.
Still glad i managed to set 2 personal bests with a f**ked up elbow.

Just got back from the gym - had a pretty decent session. Trained deadlifts at around 90% of my 1RM which is more than what i usually train at but they felt pretty solid.

It was also the first time of using my APT Belt which made a huge difference to deads - had much more confidence in my lifts.

Deadlifts
20x60kgs
8x100kgs
5x140kgs
3x160kgs
3x160kgs
3x160kgs
2x160kgs Lost my grip on the third lift
3x160kgs

BB Bent Over Rows
8x60kgs
8x60kgs
5x80kgs
5x80kgs
5x80kgs
5x80kgs
5x80kgs

Lat Pulldowns
8x90kgs
8x90kgs
5x110kgs
5x110kgs
5x110kgs
5x120kgs
5x120kgs

Shrugs
10x60kgs
10x60kgs
10x60kgs

At this point my hands were f**ked and i called it a day but was pleased with my deads.

Got just less than 4 months to train for the Olympic Dragon comp so am making sure every session counts.

Cheers guys - ive been talking to jt & when i get back from florida i am ordering a 100kg stone and building a loading platform to train with in the garden if i cant make it down to olympic.

Anyway, i am offically in love with overhead pressing. Normally train legs on a Wednesday but cant train this weekend so have had to sacrifice legs this week in favour of a beasty shoulders session.

Just got back from training and i am buzzing - managed to hit some more PBs which i expected because i went into the gym like a bull in a china shop after my elbow pain at the weekend.

Clean & Press
4x70kgs
4x70kgs
2x75kgs
2x80kgs
0x85kgs (Dropped the bar on top of my belt - now have 2 f**k off blood blisters)
1x85kgs PB

Was determined to nail 85kgs for at least one rep - comp weight on the barbell is 90kgs for the light set so am more than confident i will nail that before long.

Push Press
5x70kgs
5x70kgs
4x80kgs
1x85kgs PB

Managed to set a new PB on push press too - cut myself short on sets as i had been on the squat rack for 30 mins and one of the other guys was waiting. Only fair everyone gets the same chance to use it.

Lateral Raises
8x10kgs
8x12.5kgs
6x12.5kgs
8x12.5kgs

Never really go crazy with the weight on these as i like to keep them really concentrated.

DB Shoulder Press
8x27.5kgs
8x27.5kgs
8x27.5kgs
8x27.5kgs

Was started to run out of steam at this point so a fairly low weight but just wanted to get the volume out.

DB Overhead Press
1x27.5kgs
1x30kgs
1x32.5kgs
0x35kgs

Thought this would be a lot easier than it actually was - need to work on this as the comp weight is 40kgs. Got a few months yet so i should manage to nail that too.

Did a few single arm pushdowns and bodyweight dips for triceps and crawled out of the gym sweating like a fat b**ch on a treadmill.

Think entering this comp was the best thing for my training because i am pushing myself even more than ever on every session.

Anyway, thanks for reading. All comments/ critque welcome.Happy

Snap - quite looking forward to the deadlifts, overhead medley and incline log.

Hopefully a couple of months training with the stones will give me a better chance. Ill just be glad to lift everything and not make a tit of myself.

You gonna be down at Olympic at all on a Sunday soon? Would be good to have a training session with you and pick up a few tips.
