Less than one month to go for this comp. Hope that the training is going well. Just to update, all competitors will recieve pack on the day (protein powder, drinks and some other goodies) also T-shirts will be provided.

Trophies for the winners.

Please arrive early and stick around at the end when we hand the proceeds over to the hospice staff.

Bring friends and family, activities available for little ones. The greater the turn out and success of the day, the more likely we will be to get another comp next year.

All the best,
PINT

The medley event has been slightly amended (the farmers is replaced with a frame carry - same weights, approx same pickup - this is due to the weights coming off the farmers when dropped - safety and time!).

Question for anyone who's done axle dead lift - how difficult is the grip?

I suppose I should try it really before the day! I've got 240 for reps.

Its ok mate. I would just do as many as your grip will handle thumbed, and then go thumbless for the remaining reps

Thanks for the tip, JC. How about thumbless from the start? We won't be talking big numbers here. I'd be very pleased with 4 reps on an oly bar! I'm training tomorrow. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Depends on the weight mate. You might be right in that with 240 may need go thumbless from the start

id give it a try before if I were you wayne. youve got a good grip so it shouldnt be a problem but it does get some getting used to.

I would describe my grip as "average" rather than "good". I wish it was as good as jt's! Grip strength takes different forms. Holding onto a heavy axle is different to holding onto heavy farmer's with approx 1 inch handles.

The competition is at

Park and Ride Car park, Old portsmouth road, Guildford, Surrey. GU3 1LP.

comp starts at 11:00 but would like competitors there for 10:00 please.

If any doubt.. head into guildford town and follow the signs out to Godalming A3100 (thats the old portsmouth road).

From Guildford, on the A3100 you will pass a kennels and cattery called TREETOPS on your left, the PARK AND RIDE is a little further up on the same side.

Hope to see you all there competitors and spectators..
