Thanks again to one and all. Great performances from all the athletes on the day, real warrior spirit.

Congrats to Munya for a fantastic consistant performance throughout.

Really pleased with my brother Vince who took third in the novices despite having never used strongman equipment until the day before the comp.

Thoughts are with Dynamite for a quick and complete recovery (glad our on site first aider/nurse managed to get him to A+E so quickly).

Also, thought Wayne Cowdrey deserved better than last place, strength was definately there but those stones just were not going over...

We raised in excess of £2,500 on the day (with a little still left to collect from the auction and sponsors).

Thanks again to the Stoneman for comparing. Carl, Kelv and Rich for scoring, judging and generally being great on the day.

CHASE CHARITY CHALLENGE -FINAL PLACINGS

NOVICE CLASS

7th - Richard Stannard
6th - John Strange
5th - Phil ' the saint' Diamond
4th- Grant Mawby
3rd - Vince Lamport - Bobs Gym, Farnborough
2nd - Duane Hope - Workshop Gym, Guildford
1st - Colin Hawkins - Reading

*********Darren Dixion withdrew after the second event with a severe bicep tear. Our thoughts are with him for a speedy and full recovery**********

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

7th - Wayne Cowdrey
6th - Simon Barr
5th - David Whittington
4th - Bren Powers
3rd - Mark Kingham
2nd - Simon Cowdrey
1st - Munya Chigwada

Events were held in the following order with the winners noted

Log Press - Colin 13 reps/ Munya 7 reps

Deadlift - Colin 7reps/ Munya 7 reps

Medley - Colin (35.38sec) / Simon C (40.81)

Car Pull and Push - Colin (46.28sec) / Mark (47.72)

Atlas Stones - Colin (5x 80kg stone and 1 rep of 125kg stone in 36.36 sec) / Mark (5x125 stone and 1x 150stone in 50.09 sec)

Worthy of note were great performances by Grant in the Novices, Munya throughout, Wayne Cowdrey (who just couldnt clear the bar on the stones despite getting it above shoulder height repeatedly and with ease). Also Vince and Dwain in the novices who had both only ever tried the equipment once before the competition and still took third and second places.... No denying Colin was head and shoulders above the novices in most of the comp! Big Mark also pulled out some extraordinary performances with an eerie quiet particularly on the stones where he made it look more like marbles.....

The Stoneman was a great PA and really did us proud, as did Carl, Rich Gorvin and Big kelv who scored, judged and encouraged the lads throughout the day....

If anyone knows how Darren Dixion is please let me know, my wife and I would like to pass on our regards and thanks...

I've never had a proper go at shouldering a stone. A couple of people suggested platform shoes.
