I was the youngest of the blokes lifting at 37YO. Jeff was pushing 39, Steve Leigh well into his 40's, and Fat Pete well into his 50's. No reason why you can't carry on to good things as long as you stay injury free. Make sure you back up your big lifts with plenty graft (which you do) and don't neglect stretching/ mobility. It's the first thing to go Wink

Those videos were amazing and your post was really motivating to me mate, appreciate that. Also, really makes me want to go and train.

Well I'm in it for the long haul and have no plans of stopping any time soon if I can help it. I hear you on the mobility stuff though. This is something I have to do a lot of, but it is improving all the time. Hips have been an issue for me and at one point thought I was ready for the glue factory, but think I turned a corner. Need to do that stuff just to stay pain free if I am honest.

Just an easy/upper body day today. Next couple of days will be rough (especially Thursday).

Warmed up by doing this and my shoulders felt amazing after, felt like I loads of overhead ROM and stability. Pausing the mid-trap raises is a revelation especially if at the top your purposefully keep trying to supinate your wrists, switched everything on and felt great:

Mid trap raises with pauses at top: 4 x 12

Rear delt raises with pauses at top: 4 x 12

Bar muscle snatch: 3 x 12

Strict Press, paused
50 x 3
60 x 3
70 x 1
80 x 1
90 x 1

72.5 x 10
67.5 x 10
62.5 x 8 (fekk!)

Close Grip Bench
60 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 10, 10, 8 (lol, can't do more than 2 tens it seems!)

Seated Rows
5 x 10

Neutral Pullups
3 x 10

Cable pullthroughs with band around knees
4 x 25

God I hate reps for upper body stuff. The strict press ruined me. I can't see me adding weight next week on those and getting 10, was too much of a grind. Did a few singles up to 90 to warm up, think I will keep doing this but make sure that this rep is not too slow. Close grips felt better this time. Be glad when the reps drop.

Snatch:
40 x 3 x 2
50 x 2
60 x 2
70 x 2
80 x 1 x 5
82.5 x 1 x 2
85 x 1 x 2
87.5 x 1

Clean and Jerk (forgot my bas***d wrist wraps so was pretty nervous)
60 x 2
80 x 2
90 x 1
100 x 1
105 x 1 x 10

Squats
60 x 3
100 x 3
120 x 2
140 x 1
150 x 1

125 x 10 x 4

Just working on technique really. First five reps of both snatch and clean and jerk felt a bit s**t but after that I got into them nicely. Trying to stop with the dynamic start I had because I think that it messed up my line of pull, was having to stop myself doing it. Was a bit lazy on a few of my snatches, particularly during the earlier sets. Hit a couple of ace reps though. Stiffened up a bit before squats and they started to aggravate my hip a tad.

Meeting the Missus at the gym later and will do some abs stuff and work on my hips.

Cheers Andy. Yeah it survived but I was really conscious of it. Gives me issues on clean and jerks so I have to wrap it (weirdly OK on snatch so I don't bother with them). Usually its when I catch a clean and turnover the wrist and again at the top of the jerk when overhead.

I wanted to go a little heavier but there was no way I was going to without something on my wrist.

Thanks for asking.

Paused Front Squats:
60 x 2
100 x 2
120 x 2
135 x 2
140 x 1

Front Squats
127.5 x 5
122.5 x 5
117.5 x 5

Snatch from Deficit (2-3 inches)
40 x 3
50 x 3
60 x 5
70 x 5
75 x 5
80 x 5

Clean from Deficit (same as above)
60 x 3
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
105 x 5

Jerks
60 x 3
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
105 x 5

Partial front squat, from rack/deadstop (bit like a jerk dip that's a tad too deep)
140 x 6
145 x 6
150 x 6

The partial front squats ruined me. Really, highlighted weakness. Difficult to get into and hold position and difficult to get moving. Should hopefully carryover to the jerk.

Big session mate. Looking good.

Will be interesting to see how the dead stop front squats go. I tried jerk dips the other day and just felt like a dickhead.

I tried those partial fronts for a bit. Think I got up to 200 and felt like I was gonna snap in half!

I can't believe how hard they are. I was absolutely awful at them. It was virtually impossible to get moving, was pushing all air out of my body and I was dying.

I am doing 1 day per week where I do jerk dips (Sunday). So this session I do not re-rack the weight in between reps and try to do them dynamically like a dip and drive. And 1 day (today) I am doing them more as a postural/strength exercise where I do them from a deadstop.

Either way they're horrible and I am crap at them.

Just a little session, sluggish after yesterday's.

Power Snatch
40 x 3
50 x 3
60 x 3
70 x 3 x 6

Close grip bench:
60 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 10
95 x 10
90 x 8

Behind neck, snatch grip press
50kg x 10 x 4

(supersetted this with lower/mid trap raises)

Then did a few bits for rotator cuffs and a ton of triceps extensions.

Thinking of adding in some snatch balance on my Friday session (and maybe my other press session and all) to work on flexibility and bottom positioning a bit. Nothing heavy, more to focus on foot movement and getting to the bottom position solidly.
