The reason Benni dosen't pull in a suit is that he dosen't get anything out of it, if fact he says it makes it more difficult because it pulls him off his ideal pulling line - If he any got an advantage out if one he would use one (this is from the horses mouth btw).
Same with KK pulling without a belt, he gets nothing out of one - If he did, he would use one.

I was out in Finland when he went head to head with Andy. Andy used the Max Deadlifter from John Inzer and Benni used the Metal Pro from Ano & Minna (both custom made), Andy broke the existing record and finished with 426kg, shortly after Benni pulled a mind boggling 440kg and missed 455kg. Bare in mind Andy did a full meet, Benni took token lifts and was focused on the all time Deadlift record alone. I went straight over to where they both stood near each other after the lifting finished. The amount of burst blood vessels in Benni's face looked bloody scary. I can only assume this and the fact he has stated that pulling in a suit ruins his pulling line, is why he prefers to lift raw.

I have to give praise to Andy Bolton, some of the unlocked Deadlift's don't tell the true story of his lifting career. He went across the pond for many years and Deadlifted raw against many great pullers like Gary Frank, Steve Goggins and Ano Turtanainen and came out on top against equipped Deadlifters. He has pulled over 400kg more than any other Super Heavyweight lifter in history, his speed was it it's best about 2000-2004. I have some VHS footage that would impress a few people if they seen him in the late 90's.

Benni is still very young and I think he will Deadlift the World record on calibrated plates, if of course that's his goal and he remains injury free.

No-one is saying they are. But the smaller the tolerance the greather the cost. I recall a friend buying several "20" kilo discs (not ivanko admitedly) and they turned out to weigh about 16 kilos each and yet were within tolerance. No 20 kilo disc will weigh 20.00000000000 kilos bit + or - 0.5% and + or - 20% is a huge difference in weight and in cost.

I also recall a very well respected and highly talented lifter who in a career spanning many years never pulled a certain weight except once in an exhibition / competition in Hawaii. When asked why just this once did he do it and never got near it again, he replied "because the weights weren't true there and there were everywhere else" so it isn't new.

That doesn't mean to say that Benni was in on it or even that he knew.

If a man runs a marathon and sets a world's best time, I do expect him to be out of breath afterwards

Surely the mere existence of this thread says all it needs to about the relevance of calibrated plates for WRs?
