Right basicly the plan for next year is to put on a bit of weight and generaly get strong. Last year felt a bit flat to be honest so I was wandering what you guys would suggest.

Get a plan together, set yourself little targets that work towards a bigger target.

Find a routine, follow that routine for X No. weeks/months, then change.
Set a eating plan, write a log to make sure you are following the plan.

add an extra meal in the am and an extra in the pm .Try adding little snacks to your daily diet. Porridge/omlettes and deli meat are easy to eat and quite calorific. for eg i try and get my first meal in @ 6.30 am which kickstarts the metabolism and by 930 am im starving ! Try and eat about every 3 hours . Good luck pal

I was only semi joking. It doesn't sound like you are trying to do anything crazy, so IMO you dont need to do anything out of the box. Up your calls by 500 a day, keep your lifting simple and consistent and you will have no bother. Getting fat? Cut back a bit, npt putting on weight? up the eating a bit.

I often think having too many 'ideas' often detracts from just getting it done.

Set yourself some clear achievable goals. training plan that meets those goals and keep a log of it. Write down your goals so you have a visual reference or if you know someone has achieved that goal have a vid or a photo of them again as a visual reference and keep going back to that reference.
Work out a solid easy to follow eating plan.
Then eat, train hard and when you think you've trained hard train harder.
Above all else, enjoy yourself, its a hobby nothing more nothing less.

Trying to eat more isn't that easy Jay. I'm normaly up at 05.30 and on my way to work before 07.00 then get home sometime after 18.00.

I'm hopping to get a bit more time to train this year though so that can't hurt. Also hopping to get to compete again this year so this should give me the kick up the arse I need to keep motivated

Eggs take 5 mins max in the microwave add to that some porridge and a shake + fruit and youve got a few extra 100 calories one more like that at 1030 pm and by the end of the week youd be 7000 calories a week up !! 37,400 cals a year more than usual

To add some weight I've started having this shake twice a day -

100g oats
500ml milk
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
1 table spoon of Nutella
50g of protein powder

1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon, sometimes have it asy pwo shake. Great if you make them to take to work with you so you can have them on the move.

Have this shake before bed
300g cottage cheese
Yoghurt
And then eat 2 slices of whole meal bread and peanut butter. Add these in along with your normal eating and you should gain some good weight

I usually leave for work at 05.15 and I have a large scoop of whey protein with two scoops of ready oats in the car on the way to work, then something like a granary bar when I get to work. Gets me about an extra 350-400 kcals
