I am not keen on equipment being allowed in Strongman, but as it is not going to go away I am trying to learn how to use it.

I tried it for the first time last night, and found a few things a problem. I dont have any vids, but will try and get some next time.

It is fine using just the bottoms, but I feel it adds very little to my squat.

Once I put the straps up I cant seem to squat high bar at all, but I find it easier for walking out. With the straps up, my low bar lift out and walk out feels terrible.

I have not had enough weight on the bar to get to depth in the suit yet, but I find going down feels awful, but coming up feels like nothing.

I am sure a lot of it is probably normal, but I would appreciate any advice on learning to use a suit, or even any links to good articles or vids

Get the hang of squatting straps down first.

This isn't easy - it can take you weeks and weeks before you find the right groove.

Couple of basics - push out with your knees and feet as you squat "spread the floor" its called. Secondly, squat back not down, i.e like as if you are trying to sit as far back on a hypothetical box.

Suits are designed for low bar squatting, I'd save the high bar stuff for when you're unequipped.

I assume you've got a nice loose oversized single ply? It'll all be harder to learn the tighter and stronger the suit.

Cheers Pork Pie, it is a single ply, and I can get in with limited help, and not much bruising, so I guess its not that tight.

Martin, at least you managed to get some good weight on the bar. I need to sort my walk out with the bar low. I seem to be weak at it. I know there is no walk out on the cage squat at the Stottish, but need to get better at it to train heavier.

Sounds a lot like me mate, your clearly more intelligent thou as i jumped in at the deep end with double ply kit Tongue ha but thats just me haha

A good single ply suit (tight) should take a good 5-10 mins of fighting to get it on, my double ply suit takes a good while ! I squatted tonight using my suit as briefs, did a easy 250 and left it there, im attempting 270 straps down in the next few days and im hoping i get reasonable depth, you should hit 260 straps up with ok depth id imagine if your suits reasonably loose

Sorry to sound ignorant but do strongmen squat in suits? I've only ever seen the strongest man on tv not in real.
