Pheewww..... I am glad someone said that. What a relief! Here's me feeling bad for thinking John was a wa**er for asking some basic advice! Grin

Wow, just caught up with this thread and all of you sugden sheep!

Seems Turbokid has not exactly got a turbo charged IQ level, so I think best leave him in his little world of, well, not sure what it is but I am pretty sure its safer to leave him in there then to go poking around in the vast unfurnished lounge that is his mind.

Listen to Mr Fleet, he may be a plastic, and a Jock to boot but he talks common sense sometimes (aside when he mentions drug free rubbish).

I need some more coffee now! And also some food! (also more drugs).

Best deadlift advice is: start a new thread and only listed to experienced guys

Well as it's tuesday it was back day again...
And I have a PB to report :-) 190kg for a single
Yes I know it's baby weights compared to everyone on here but it's HUGE to me LOL

When the 180kg went up I was happy but I'd done that before... today the 190kg went up and I've never done that before so now my deadlift strength is the best it's even been.

200kg doesn't seem so far away now!!!

Nice one John, 200 will be nailed before you know it... then all of a sudden you'll find yourself wearing a tight fitting suit, slapping talc on your thighs and wondering what you were missing all your life Wink

hell no
no big gayer suits for me, I prefer to do the lifting (light weights maybe) myself rather than letting the material do it for me ;-)
**** run's before getting a kicking from strong people ****

as said at the start, never chased numbers before but this deadlift has got a hold of me...
can not believe in all the years of training I never did 'em until recently.
And watching sugdans strongest was a massive kick start.

Really getting a buzz out of it, but still not gonna swap my BBing type training the rest of the time, you'll never make me give up my cable lat raises and my prone bicep curls!!! but I am 100% with you strength guys for the deadlift.

cheers mate

whats best now, drop back to 160kg... go for 3 sets of 6 reps and maybe do some lighter deads from a step?

I think I'm feeling it in my hips a bit much, getting a bit of pain right at the top of the lift... hips feel dry if that makes any sense but only at the back very low down on both sides.

tuesday update...

knee's were really bad this week so wasn't expecting great things but when I got to the gym I felt OK after a few sets.
lighter weights are feeling easier than they did, so thought i'd go for another 1RM and failed... feeling a bit deflated now

it went:
60kg x 10
100kg x 10
140kg x 6
140kg x 6
200kg x FAIL
200kg x 3 spotted from under the knee (never been spotted on a dead before!!! someone much stronger than me suggested it so I just went with the flow)

I was a bit annoyed I didn't get the 200kg after the 190kg PB last week.
Still feel like I could do with throwing more deads in somewhere else in the week.

Too many warm up reps mate and too bigger jump to 200.

Also tell whoever suggested spotting you on deads to f**k right off.

LOL @ spotter on deads !! you'd be better off putting the weights on blocks / doing various rack pulls
