DRAGONS 4 - THE LAST RIDE lol

Been competing in this crazy sport for a long time now, and had millions of ups and downs! I choose this comp to be my final outing soley because Mark clegg has been continously supportive and encouraging thoroughout the last few years. Also due to him and Ben France puting on the most awesome comps !

Been stuggling for the last 4 years with ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis and 4 discs that are in degeneration ( spinal surgery being the only answer ). So called it a day for my health and family.

Did want to go out with a bang with some PB's, but due to a bit of unluckiness i injuried my collar bone area the week before the dragons, unfortunate but s**t happens ! lool

this how things played out...........

MAX DEADLIFT - 220kg ( 1 deadlift only )

warmed up to a 230kg pull and struggled to lock it out, fast off the floor but the injury surfaced and it freakin hurt. I did op for 240kg opener but dropped it to 220kg!
I'd worked my training up to a 280kg PB too, pulled 260kg x 2 and 270kg a couple of weeks before too ! lol

LOADING MEDLEY All complete

Relied on my good arm to do most of the heavy lifting and managed all barrells, though struggled with cylinder a little !

LOG -85kg x 7 reps

warmed up with the 60kg log and struggled the lockout, collar area hurting like a mofo. So managed to control 3 reps out with the 85kg, then out of nowhere i got angry with the pain and pumped out 4 near 1 motions for 7 reps WTF ?????

130K FARMERS x 10m ish

tried picking up the 110kg for a warm up and being in the same event i hurt myself on initial , it pulled down on my collar area and it killed !
went for broke and thought F it, go for the 130kg and go out like a man lol !
Managed to hold through the pain and then collapsed after 10m to score, i couldnt move my left arm and to be honest i nearly cried........very painful !

ARM Over Arm - 37 secs

Tried a different technique than the others guys did, it went wrong though and then lost lots of time, had to resort back to the other tech loool !worth a try !

STONES x 4

Got put up against the mighty General in this event, he led for the first 3 stones but manage to pip him on the fourth ! nice

OFFICALLY HAPPY AND RETIRED

Thanks for you luv and support xxx Mini Viking

I'm gutted that i didnt know this was your last comp mate

I'm going to have to spend the rest of my career (however long that is), wondering, "would I have ever taken him, one day ?"

If you want to be the man, you have to beat the man. No matter, how far fetched the idea is.

You are an inspiration and a genuine yardstick that I use to track my own progress.

It is not enough, to stand out in this sport, just to be freakishly strong, you also need to be a great person, AND YOU'RE BOTH.

I would just as soon stand at a bar and have a drink with you as I would compete next to you, in fact I'd probably rather the drink than the whooping

Good luck with all your future plans mate

Thanxs Mike, its been really enjoyable competing against you too ! I love your rage going into events ! Fearful Cool
