I vaguely remember him when I just started posting here 2014/2015. didn't he run an advert for his company on here too? convinced it's Withnell Car sales? my missus had a look at a car at their site in Bolton, seemed pretty decent but she went elsewhere in the end.

nice bit of weight loss already.

grip width has forearms vertical at nipple level when the bar on chest. Shoulder feels ok with such light weight, the test will be how it holds up north of 4 plates a side.. it’s without doubt a stronger grip.

Plans for British champs

1. more committed, don’t combine with a long weekend holiday with wife and kid - traipsing round Leicester Square at 9pm eating Chinese and drinking ale not a great idea post weigh in after sweating weight off.

2. sort out either hip/quad flexibility to get feet planted or get some blocks under foot. Might as well be Larsen pressing on a comp bench, zero stability compared to low gym bench I use.

3. don’t taper volume until last week, think this influenced the next point below.

4. Don’t let diet slack in last 2 - 3 weeks

5. 6 week cut to get well under 100kg prior to 12 week training block into comp.

6. start + pause + thumb round grip on more sets from now.

7. Measure grip on gym bar and do same at comp as knurling isn’t the same.

Gpc southerns M3 raw bench only
weigh in 99.35kg .. decided to cut after saying I wouldn’t but was only 2.5kg over
warm up to 160kg
opener 180kg - 3 whites
2nd 192.5kg - fail jumped start
3rd 192.5kg - 3 whites, comfy enough

conservative opener, messed up warm ups by going to soon and ended up waiting nearly 30 minutes until opener, which obviously felt heavy by then (flight was very large, 20 minutes between attempts and I was near end)

was hoping for over 200kg but the technical fail put paid to that. assume I qualified for British champs now, not too bad after 6 years out of competition, plenty of rustiness but that’ll disappear.
