All the strongman coaching is done by myself. I know a few of you may think “what the hell is he going to teach me about strongman training if he hasn’t won anything himself”. But I have developed a training format for improving efficiency and effectiveness of athlete’s strength during the strongman movements/disciplines. Many of the training methods I use are very strange but they really do make a massive difference to athletes’ performance during the strongman disciplines.

Yes anyone can come along and pay and just have a workout and use the kit. We are open from 9am-9pm Monday-Friday and 9am-3pm Saturday + Sunday. We can open outside of these times but only by appointment.

Yes the facility is great for Olympic lifting as well as power lifting, sports performance training, fitness and all forms of human performance training. What ever your sport we have the equipment for your training.

Every first visit is free.

Membership rates are
1 month - £25
3 months - £70
6 months - £135
12 months - £260 Sugden Barbell Members rate £225

Hope to see you all down here soon.

Would people prefer a strongman clinic on a Saturday rather than a Sunday?

Hi guys

It was great to meet some of you yesterday.

I will get all the prices on the website this week and post them on here as well. We don't have a platform to load the stones on to yet but are going to build some in the summer outside.

Many Thanks

Dean Kent

» polymetrics (Go to post)13-01-2010 @ 14:00
Plyometrics refers to the type of exercise that links strength with speed of movement to produce power. During these exercises there is a rapid lengthening of the muscle (eccentric contraction), immediately followed by a rapid shortening of the muscle (concentric contraction). Training this “stretch-shortening cycle” can increase power production. Unlike traditional cardio or strength training methods, plyometrics enables a muscle to reach maximal force in the shortest possible time. The key here is the words rapid, and immediate. The time between the eccentric and concentric phases should be as short as possible to be considered a plyometric exercise (ideally less than 0.1 seconds).

I am sure many people may have the same thoughts as you GiantEddie but it is the simple tweaks that we make to peoples training that are similar to those that Phil Pfister made in his training that made the difference to his achievements.

I am sure if you took the time to come along there would be information that would be of use to you. So why not come along and see for yourself GiantEddie

The seminar will cover the Exertrain training model focusing on strength and power specifically for strength athletes. We will also cover our protocols for increasing the components of power – (strength speed and speed strength) so you can take them away and implement them into your training straight away.
