25/10/12 w531 wk 2 deadlifts Trained early today because a mate wanted to jump in. Im carrying a back injury atm i picked up from farmers last saturday. Deadlift 3x warmup sets 170kg x 3 180kg x 3 190kg x 6 back was really hurting and couldnt even get the 7th attempt of the floor which really pissed me off. Dbell rows 40kg x 12 50kg x 8 55kg x 8 weighted hanging back raises: 3 sets of 10 with 10kgs Ez bar bicep curls 30kg x 10 35kg x 8 37.5kg x 8 machine bicep curls 1 pyramid set decending weight until complete failure. Dissapointed with the session as a whole wanted 8 on 190.. my hamstrings need alot more work as iv sufferd multiple tears to each leg so ill start adding strength building hammy work as of next week. | |||

Tuesday 23/10/12 week 2 shoulders w531 programme my alarm didnt go off in the morning and my gym has strange opening hours so i was rushed straight away didnt have time for food etc just went directly to the gym. by time i started training i had been awake no longer thab 20mins empty so i wasnt expecting anything great. Strict oh press 3x warmups sets each 5reps 70kg x 3reps 75kg x 3reps 80kg x 9reps i really didnt feel strong atall was stil in the process of waking up seated shoulder freeweight machine 45kgs a side 8reps 55kgs a side 8reps 65kgs a side 3reps ran out of steam but i upped the weights on this exercise by 5kgs a set from last week. Was pushed for time so rushed 3 sets of 12 on tricep pushdown on the stack which i supersetted with round the worlds with 10kg dbells. had to stop the session there as the poxy gym shut overall not happy atleast i got the main bit done. | |||

Monday 22/10/12 week 2 squats w531 programme I felt a lot more awake this week and was up for this session 3x warmup sets 135kg x 3 reps 145kg x 3 reps 155kg x. 14 reps PB Was chuffed to hit so many reps took me a while to recover felt on the edge of bundering lol. Alternate leg press 160kg x 8 reps 210kg x 8right leg 7 left leg I completely died on this set legs were destroyed 215kg x 5 each leg then hobbled of to attempt some calf work. | |||

Been too busy to update so here is the last few days training I missed chest last week due to work. Thursday 18th dead lift 531 week 1 max in at 235 3x warmup sets 160kg x 5 reps 170kg x 5 reps 180kg x 10 reps was happy with 10 considering how tired I was the gym was rammed so I sped through the workout as fast as possible. Machine rows Stack(200kg) x 8reps Stack +5kg x 8 reps Stack + 7.5kg x 8 reps Dbell bicep curls 15kgs x 10 reps 20kgs x 10 reps 22.5kgs x 8 reps My biceps are by far my weakest muscle purely because I hate training them and always half arse it. After these I just did some high volume hammer curls n called it a day. Saturday 20th log and farmers Been training alot with Paul Hamilton and today we just wanted to see were we are at on every event we can train we started on farmers I went up to 140kgs to 15m my back went think I twinges my rhomboids so didn't go any heavier Paul went up to 160kgs. Not bad considering he hasn't trained in best part of a year big things to come from him. Log I worked up to 112.5kg for a single back hurt to much to push it anymore and Paul stopped at 125kgs moaning that his belt pinched him lol. | |||

Tueday: Strict Press, triceps using wendler 531 put my max at 100 but went bit heavier than was guided too. OH strict press warmup x 3 sets 75kg x 5 reps 75kg x 5 reps 77.5kg x 9 reps seated shoulder press machine 40kgs each arm x 8 reps 50kgs each arm x 6 reps 60kgs each arm x 4 reps all felt pretty comfortable rear delt raises s-setted with side lat raises 16kg dbells x 10 reps each movement x 2 sets was planning on doing 3 but my shoulders felt fried. tricep pushdowns stack (80kg) x 10 reps +10kg x 10 reps +11.25kg x 10 reps weighted dips to finish of 20kg added x 15 reps 40kg added x 8 reps 40kg added x 8 reps initially i didnt want to go tht heavy i wanted more reps but a mate joined in n egos took over all in all i was quite happy with the session overall weights arent great atm but the programme increases them week by week so hopefully i can get some good progress in. | |||

A lil bit about me, im 25 years old started playing with weights when i was on tour in afghanistan rli caught the iron bug when we had the luxery or access to weights the other time we just used what ever we could find and improvised. that was back in late 2008 early 2009. since then i stuck to bodybuilding but always found i was more interested in the weight i was pushing than the pump or really working the muscle. i never took it seriously until this year and really trained for strength and have improved my lifts massively in this time. only been training strongman for 3-4 months and have done 2 novice comps (newarks,watfords u105s) I will be following the 531 routene as the core with added compounds and a day for events. Anyways here goes Goals: Bench 170 dead 260 squat 250 log 140 mon night: Squats I hadnt squatted in 3 weeks and was feeling rusty but followed the 531 i put my max in at 190 3x warmup sets each set i increased the weight. 130kg x 5 reps 135kg x 5 145kg x 12 the last set really smashed my legs. Alternate leg press 150kg x 8 reps each leg 200kg x 8 each leg 210kg x 6 each leg machine Standing calf raises stack x 20 reps stack + 40kg x 20 reps stack + 50kg x 20 reps The session blew the cobwebs out thats for sure, im trying to keep it simple for the rest of the year as iv had far to many injuries but feeling optimistic i can b in good shape for next year. | |||
