Not bad benching to say the least Happy

Over the last few years I've seen a number of Fins and Danes unrack the bars themselves. I asked them the exact same question after the contests. Their answers were always on the lines of - that way you never get a bad handout. Makes sense I suppose, despite the extra effort.

I've actually toyed around with it myself seeing as I train solo a lot of the time and it's quite and interesting experience when the bar gets heavy to say the least.

I would rather not unrack it as it tends to hurt! But bad handouts are a b**ch. Will always ask for a center hand off now.

Interesting discussion. I prefer side handouts in terms of they're not being someone right above my face, but centre hand outs I definitely do prefer in terms of stability. All it takes it someone with slow reactions (or Rick trying his 'one-handed hand-off trick') and you have wobble to contend with.

The rack is definitely the perfect height for him to take it out though, minimal effort - no way I could do that with anything heavy at Adders.

At Addlington the racks are too far behind you to unrack it yourself with anything over 100k ish.

If you bench out of a power rack and free standing bench you can easily set it up to unrack without a great problem. The problem I find with side hands offs is that the spotters carn't always hand of at same time, plus they carn't feel the pressure the lifter applies and position the bar accordingly. It's not a major problem though . I would imagine it's more of a problemn equipped lifters.

Why is that "IPF"? His arse is off the bench and there is no pause. Crazy power though of course.

I train alone and unrack all my benches myself. I prefer it.

He is doing the raw benching as just an assistance for his shirted benching. He is the super heavies champ so he is doing something right...

Top benching!

I actually like to unrack a lot of my own benches. Have done for years. Of course the bench has to be the right dimensions or it csn be near on impossible with anything heavy.

I've never really considered not unracking the bar myself to be honest. I usually train alone, but even when I train with some else i never thought about getting them to hand it off.
Now i just tend to set up my racks so that i don't have to reach behind me to unrack.
